problem with finding compiled maps
ok im running windows 7 ultimate and for some odd reason in my COD2 files in the main folder there arent any other folders just iwd files not a maps folder but on my old computer i had windows xp and there was folder i cant figure out why it wouldnt have a maps folder like before can someone help me

I found the solution. But now another bad(wrong) thing appeared.

SOLUTION:

Uninstall completely the game and "CallofDuty2ModTools-1"
( Eliminate Manually completely the call of duty 2 folder )
Before backup your works located in C:\Archivos of programa\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\maps\mp.

Then install the game and CallofDuty2ModTools-1

Then you comment on me. I would like to support contact with you to solve the problems.
Now I can enter to my map, but I stay out of the box-sky. And only I am spectator.

compiling
ive the same problem as xxxsniper:
when i compile it opens DOS and after 2-3 secs it closes again, so i cant see anything, i dont know if there are any errors. So i tought nothing is wrong, till i opened the map main/maps/mp/
That map is empty ??!! :s ive tried it again and it and again but still no compiled file in that map... :(
anyone knows the problem? and/or can help me?

mods
make sure you delete all your absolutely unnecessary maps and mods from your cod2 files. i had this problem. sometimes it prevents you from running radiant.

I fixed
Please disregard the previous message. I fixed the error. And as for global intermission being the only choice in the mp section. A quick reinstall of radiant will fix the problem.

Error when running map
Hi, I really liked this tutorial, it was really helpful, im essentially new to mapping, but after making the .gsc as directed, I still ran into an error while trying to run the map :

Then i compiled it.
I made the .gsc file on.
i clicked on ''Run Selected Map''

And in the tutorial it just runs the map
i get Cod II Single Player screen.

For those who can't view the video with quicktime, d/load and install this player instead:

For those getting the (0xc0000135) error with the compiler, you need to go to the Microsoft Windows site and update the .NET framework. I'm using the latest .NET version 3.0.

As for "global_intermission" being the only spawn point option in "mp", i don't know about that. I have the same problem and used "Info"/"Player_start" instead. I can compile the map but am unable to join a team or run about the map as a single player. If anyone knows a fix for that, please post it here. Seems several people have the same problem.

Very weird..
Hi people, i saw the movie, i thought ok, now i am back in business.
i opened the cod tools.
i get This error:

setup could not locate a valid installation of Call of duty. click OK to Exit the installer.

What does it mean
I Just have the Legal Cod 2, not an illegal version. never had one either.
could it be that my call of duty 2 map isnt on my C: Drive?
because on the movie he says: I don't know what is gonna happen when you dont have your activison map on your C: drive.

Maybe is this one
How do I can get over this error.

I am playing Call of duty 2.
maybe it are mod tools for Call of duty.

Fixes
For those who can't view the video with quicktime, d/load and install this player instead:

For those getting the (0xc0000135) error with the compiler, you need to go to the Microsoft Windows site and update the .NET framework. I'm using the latest .NET version 3.0.

As for "global_intermission" being the only spawn point option in "mp", i don't know about that. I have the same problem and used "Info"/"Player_start" instead. I can compile the map but am unable to join a team or run about the map as a single player. If anyone knows a fix for that, please post it here. Seems several people have the same problem.

iwd sum/name mismatch
What does iwd sum/name mismatch mean? I did all that this tut told me to and I recieved this error when trying to run the map. I noticed the same error from someone else, but no response. Great tut if this error will go away.

How to fix the GSC file
Okay i am sure the people that haven't figure it out or are going to run into this problem with like this

when the video is running it looks like the guy add's this to his GSC file

main() {
maps\mp\_load::main();
}

okay theres only 1 problem with this at the very end where it goes " ; " replace that with " : " so it ends up like so

main() {
maps\mp\_load::main():
}

simple right? heh

Getting started
Well I'm a compleat noob when it comes to tect. stuff except for maintaining my computer. I never heard of or used any of these tools or dealt with any mods. This video was fantastic. I started with the tools and of course had probs but with all the good tutorials on here I was able to get everything fixed and get my first small map up and running. It was worth all the searching and reading that it took. After all if you supply the answers the least we can do is search for them. One thing I would like is a video on large map making. Thanks for a GREAT site to learn with.

Problem
Hey,

I can't play the movie, but I have quick time 7.0

The only thing I see is the intro screen with the title and the maker. When I click on the play button then the time is running, but there isn't anything on the screen and I don't hear anything. And then my computer crashed and I must reboot it :S:S.

What am I doing wrong?

GSC file vs TXT
pimboollie:

You need to change Windows to show file extensions. Open any folder, go to Tools -> Folder Options, select the View Tab. In Advanced Settings scroll until you find Hide Extensions of Known File Types and make sure it is unchecked. Click Apply and/or Ok. Now you can rename your file to GSC by removing .txt from the extension.

When you're using Save As from Notepad, make sure you have All Files selected in the drop down otherwise it will always add .txt to your file extension.

I did everything right and when i compile it the window comes up and lasts for like 5 sec, then when i go into c:programfiles/activision/callofduty2/main/maps/mp theres nothing in there???????????????

OK, when i click "textures:show all" then scroll down to choose the CAULK, a Fatal error appears it says FATAL ERROR: failed to load image'door5'

Thank you foyleman for this great "easy to learn" tutorial. With this method, we can create some very nice buildings. Now i just have to find a good tutorial for landscape and for others buildings tips. I'll take a look here, at modonline, i'm sure i'm gonna find what I want.

When i click on the compile tools application i get an error before the screen apears and the application terminates itself, the error say:

Compiling not working?
Ok, so ive done everything correct so far with the mapping, then i went into the compile stage, opened it, changed the file extension thing to get all the maps, put my map (mp_first) into the my maps tab. then i clicked on it and pressed compile. the cmd window pops up, but it only lasts for a couple of seconds. then i go to retrive the files, just like in the video, and nothing is in the mp maps folder... WHY?!!

I love the tutorial, but one question. When you hollow your room, it shows the words CaulK on the walls, mine show red floor and ceiling and black walls. Why? And it doesnt show things like bricks or concrete when I put thenm on.

a part of the mod tools is cod2compiletools.exe

if a want to open this program it gives an error

Just a note on this, you need to have Quicktime version 7 to view this file, i had an earlier version and it only gave me audio.

everyone who is moaning about slow downloading will probably have a large number of problems when it comes to playing the maps, especially if you intent to run them multiplayer as hosting the map on your pc requires a fast internet speed, my pc is 4 years old, 1mbps internet and its only taking me 1 hour to get the file...so yea....good luck

Compressor problem

ARRRRGh!  An hour to download, perfect sound and no video as Quicktime says I don't have the right compressor even though I just updated it.

Oh well, nice idea but my dim brain needs the pictures, LOL.

Anyhoo;

How do you place an object somewhere else on the 2D grid.  Every building I load pops up in the center of the grid over the previous building I loaded and I can't figure out how to move it or place it elsewhere.
