I think the problem is that he used prefabs to make the stairs, but didnt include them with this. If you click on the pink boxes and press N you will say see it says something bout a spirale prefab.
You need the stair prefab that you copied numerous times to make the spiral. When you open the file now you get the pink boxes where the blue prefab boxes are. Look here:
