FastFile Extractor

Call of Duty 4 and 5 FastFile Decompresser, TextExtractor and SoundExtractor.

This may work with other games that use the fastfile format, but i haven't tested them.

Description:

Decompressor:

This application is designed to simplify the process of decompressing and extracting plaintext files from

the fastfile (*.ff) format as used in Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5.

How to use this app:

Click and drag a *.ff file onto the executable. The program will then run and (hopefully) create a file

with the extension *.dump

This is the decompressed version of a fastfile. Open the dump file in your favourite text editor and

have a look around. NOTE that there is alot of stuff in the dump file that isnt good for anything, but

if you do a search for the type of file you are looking for (plain text files such as .gsc and .cfg are best)

then you might get lucky.

TextExtractor:

This all parses the .dump file created by the decompressor. It attempts to extract all of the plaintext files it can find.

This app is not perfect by any means and will make errors. The errors occur for .csv and .menu files as well as

several others.

How to use this app:

Click and drag the *.dump file onto the executable. The program will run and show each file as it is extracted.

The
extracted files will be placed in the correct dir in the same folder as
the executable (files will get overwritten if they already exist).

SoundExtractor:

This all parses the .dump file created by the decompressor. It attempts to extract all of the *.wav files it can find.

This app is not perfect by any means and will make errors. One error that i have noticed is that it rarely does not

find the end of the wav file and the resulting wav file is excessively large. The sound will play correctly, but you may want

to
trim the end off (the wav files end with the first instance of the
string : FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF

Note:

Some of the files are encoded using the format
XWMA instead of standard WAVE encoding, and will not play with the
majority of standard players.

A program called xWMAEncode.exe which is included with the latest DirectX SDK can convert these files to standard WAV .format

How to use this app:

Click and drag the *.dump file onto the executable. The program will run and show each file as it is extracted.

The
extracted files will be placed in the correct dir in the same folder as
the executable (files will get overwritten if they already exist).
