3: it is alright to overlap most tool textures. Some you should not like hint brushes. The ones you mentioned are ok.

Instead of sealing off the whole map, try and narrow down the source. Fill in half you map with a solid brush. Then you know that part of the map will be disragarded since it is solid. The other half will compile as normal. You can keep cutting your map in half this way until you close in on the source.

OK i did some fiddling around with the cylinders in my map and it works now [pimp] [pimp] Yay. I also moved some cloned brushes around to get rid of the num_points. Thanks for the help guys!
