I leearned my lesson from last time and did a search before asking my next question! lol
I need more nuts and bolts regarding hints. Do I understand correctly that they must be placed in such a way so that they aren't in veiw of each other? Sorta like a door around the corner that you can't see, but then when you are in veiw of it, its no longer there? lol
Regarding showtris, Is it gone? I can't find the command in game anymore?
Regarding recursive mirror! Has anyone ever heard of that warning in-game before? I have a spot that if I am standing on it my r_speed skyrockets, framerates drop dramatically, and I get that recursive mirror warning. I do have a mirror in my map, but I don't get that warning any other time I am near it.
Thanks!

as far as I know, the hint brushes were not actually working properly. Lately, someone thought they were working... but I did not see any conclusive evidence. Basically... hint brushes are like regular brushes, only you can see them or bump into them. The divide up the map the same way regualr brushes do. This helps to create nodes and your search should have turned up something about what nodes are.

show tris is gone... but not. You need to use the program SOF2MPDev.exe when running your tests. IT should have come in the latest version of the sdk and you need to place it in the main game directory. It is the alternative run exe for the game as a tester. Then, run your map use the console command "devmap mapname" where mapname is the name of your map. Then... r_showtris should work for you.

sorry... don't know about the mirror thing. perhaps the mirror is allowing the player to see too many other nodes in the map.

I still haven't been able to get them to work properly however posey said he did so you may want to ask him.

Not gone but now in the latest version of the SDK. Just make sure to read the readme file attached or reveiw what we have done in the forums. (Yes another search ;))

It sounds like your getting the ole HOM (Hall of Mirrors effect) what basically happens id the game engine has to draw out what the player sees. Example: if you place your self inbetween two mirrors in real life and move around so you can see reflection after reflection you now know what the game engine is trying to do. (Not good for frame rates and tris as it never ends)

Hope this helps a bit

Cheers

OKAY! I think I figured it out! Either way it works! I placed various hint brushes in my map and at first they didn't seem to be working! I made a few more changes to my map, just added brushes and stuff, nithing big, and found a previously undetected leak in my map. (SUPER TINY! Like a crack behind a crack.. etc) Anyway, I compiled my map AND it worked beautifully! I don't know if its coincedence or what, but after trying out with r_showtris, much of my map was now not visible where I placed my hints! Where as before ALL of it was visible! YEAH! Thanks for the help and directing me towards that showtris! Thanks Foyle and Fox men!! LOL
