Ok textures are done, and for the most part so are the npc and g2skin files. However I help on adding bolt-ons to my model (i.e. the glasses), how to preview bolt-ons in modview and also how to give weapons to the person in modview so I can take some special screens for the playericon :)  So would someone please enlighten me?

easy :)
in the modviewr, go to tag_surfaces and search for head_t
now right click  and choose bolt object(or whatver it says)
now go to the bolton folder i your character folder and choose the glasses you want.

where the #### do I pt surfaces on and off?
I tried in the g2skin file, but itdoest take effect  :s15:

please help me!

hehe thanks very much Jet.
Ok here's the situtation in detail. I've just tested my character in game and he has a space on the menu but the gfx/playericons jpeg is invisible for some reason. However I click no that and my model appears. However even tho I put in the g2skin file "ear_l" and "ear_r" off (he has a balaclava on like the soldiers" he still has his ears pointing out in game). Also he uses the model suit_long_coat and I haven't changed any of the coats properties yet the draping long bits of the coat don't show up in game. However a similar set-up to mine, HK gang leader, has the coat showing up fine. I'm very confused :D

You dont have a playericon thats, why your skin has a blank slot in the menu.

And I have the same problem with the surfaces too. I dont want easts comming out from a mask. And I wanna set collar off, but it still doesnt work  :s15:

The process to make a skin for SOF2 is very similar to the process for SOF1 skins. The best way for you to figure it out would be to download a skin and reverse-engineer it.
I figured it out on my own (made the first skin ever for this game), but it took me a month.

--Photoshop or any other decent graphics editor.
--Notepad.
--SOF2MPSDK, available at Sof Files or FilePlanet. In it, you'll find ModView. That program will let you view the model as you skin it. You have to extract the files from the SKINS.PK3 and the THEREST.PK3, and put them in the SDK's BASE folder.


The following files are needed for the skin to work in-game:

Textures-arms,body,face,face2sided and head
g2skin file
shader file
npc file
player icon

The first and last files are jpegs. The rest are text files.
Once you have your own g2skin file and your textures, you'll be able to view your skin in ModView. You can see it as a different skin when you're editing the textures, but you need to have everything renamed to test it amd make sure everything works.
Once you have the skin working, make a pk3 with it and move it to the game's BASE folder. Fire up the game and look for it. If it's visible in the menu and you can play with it, it's ready for release.
One thing:
For the love of god, don't make skins of weird things or cartoon characters! Chewbacca doesn't fit in the SOF universe and neither do Kenny or Cartman!
Keep it real. Human. Believable.

to pee-pee you off  :s5: i'd like to say that face2side isnta  texture. Its a shader which comes form the face file.

So far, I do it in the g2skin file, but I've noticed the ears still showing in masked models.
