I getting close to buying one as well. AMD athlone 800, GF4 460Mx, SB live 1024, 2X 20GB, but at ATA 66mhz (I want 133MHz).
If you are going to build it your self and you are on a tight budget, get a good Mother board that can take the biggest CPU, and 3Gb mem +, Put a cheaper cpu for now and when prices drop upgrade. However PC prices are really low and there are some good packaged bargans out there at the moment. Good luck.

Personally for myself, I mess around with music sequencing software, AutoCad, and when I get my mini camcorder, video edit will consume memory.
Not many people use a PC soley for games.

SOme PC shops will put weaker CPU's over clock them and then sell them off as a higher spec PC. So was your PC bought from a good shop?
69 degrees is dangerously high.

i have come to the conclusion that my cpu temperature diode is dead. cos my heatsink isn't boiling hot even after having pc turned on for a few hours. my processor is the correct one as the sisoftware sandra says it is a P4 1.8Ghz and it was advertised as that. no its not everclocked to my knowledege

does anyone know when the nv30 is getting released?

the last estimate i heard was march but all the board manufactuers will be compeating to get the first one out so it hopefully will be early next year

cool better start saving will the nv30 be backwards compatible with AGP 4x cos i cant really but a new mb at the moment.
