I'm all most ashamed to post this one:  ???

1 Ghz AMD
512 MB Ram (PC 133)
Epox 8KTA
20 GB WD ATA 66 Hard Drive
GF4 Ti 4600
Soundblaster Live w/ SoundBlaster 4.1 Surround speakers.
19" Monitor (no-name brand)

I may be under powered, but I still manage to put up a decent kill list.

It’s not what you have but how you use it…. Kind of like the weapon usage in SOF2.
No shame here the box does the job, besides having Broad band is more important.

I’m on:
AMD Athlone 800 MHZ
GF4 64MB 460MX (6 months old upgrade from a GF2 32mb MX)
2 X 20 GB Hdisk
512 Mb Sdram
SB 1024 live
Mitsumi 4804 te CDR –CDRW

Time to upgrade to a P4 – 3GB PC soon, good deals at the moment.

Ouch. 98 sucks...well you know.

I should start marketing the rig shown on the other page as a gamers special. Bet I could sell quite a few of them.
Lot's of horsepower and looks cool too.
I could offer it with a nice 19"monitor and your choice of OS all for well under $2000.

+ a free copy of SoF2. :)

:D nice computer very nice built completely different to ours over here :D yours are bigger. the ono i have now (and using) is about 50cm (width) or a little more and the hight i would say is about 60cm or a bit more. :D lol small!

one of my other pcs are bigger though and can also handle sof 2 where this one cant  :s29:.

Ramrod - Why did you opt for the Volcano 9 over the 7?  Did the pretty lights distract you?   :s12:

Plus the 9 has better cooling.

Actually, if you compare the 7+ to the 9, you'll find the 9 does move more CFM than the 7+ at a lower RPM (4800 vs 6000).  However, it makes no difference, the 7+ is the better cooling solution by far.  Just going on what Thermal Take says about they're products, you can compare the back of the packages, you'll find that the 7+ has a much longer life expectancy (50,000 hours vs 40,000 I think, although the Thermal Take website claims the 9 has a 50,000 hour expectancy, I think I'm going to believe the packaging since I'm a pessimist).

The other thing that bothers me about the 9 is that at a lower RPM (again, 4800 vs 6000) it has virtually the same noise factor as the 7+.  And the 7+ is FRICKING LOUD on full throttle.....my comp sounds like vacuum cleaner, but I'm more concerned with keeping my comp cool than its noise factor.

For a detailed review of both heatsinks, check out Dan's Data.com

That link should take you to the 7+ review and the 9 is directly under it, notice the 7+ scores a great 52 C/W (Centigrade per Watt) to the 9's decent 60 C/W.

If you want to read the whole review you can see this guy is pretty serious about his testing
