Keeps everything cool enough

MSI KT3 Ultra AMD T-Bird 1.33@1.5 with Thermalright AX-7 512MB Crucial PC2100 DDR GF3 Ti200 64MB 12GB HDD(I have a 60GB that will soon be in there.) Chenbro Netserver case (plenty O' room) 17 in Hitachi Monitor The Video card is next to be upgraded once I get the 60GB hdd installed. After that, a new CPU..probably a 2100+ or there abouts then OC it.

Can I just 'have' a free copy of SoF2 Ram? Since I'm such a dedicated Raven forum poster? Then I'd have 6 legit CD keys to be naughty...errrrr I mean nice with.

Actually, if you compare the 7+ to the 9, you'll find the 9 does move more CFM than the 7+ at a lower RPM (4800 vs 6000). However, it makes no difference, the 7+ is the better cooling solution by far. Just going on what Thermal Take says about they're products, you can compare the back of the packages, you'll find that the 7+ has a much longer life expectancy (50,000 hours vs 40,000 I think, although the Thermal Take website claims the 9 has a 50,000 hour expectancy, I think I'm going to believe the packaging since I'm a pessimist).

The other thing that bothers me about the 9 is that at a lower RPM (again, 4800 vs 6000) it has virtually the same noise factor as the 7+. And the 7+ is FRICKING LOUD on full throttle.....my comp sounds like vacuum cleaner, but I'm more concerned with keeping my comp cool than its noise factor.

That link should take you to the 7+ review and the 9 is directly under it, notice the 7+ scores a great 52 C/W (Centigrade per Watt) to the 9's decent 60 C/W.

If you want to read the whole review you can see this guy is pretty serious about his testing

LOL, yes they are loud. Gave Apoxol a headache and they locked my baby in a closet there. It's just a renderer for Q4 so they stashed it away. I looked into quieter but I didn't want to compromise cooling on a rig that will work that hard. My 9 is actually running at 5400-5600 rpm. I contemplated water cooling but I just can't bring myself to run water into my box. lol

Holy crap! How'd you manage to get the higher RPM's? Did you rig it to run more voltage through the fan? Hmmm, the fan on the 9 is higher quality than the 7+ so I would believe cooler temps from the 9 at a higher RPM than the 4800 norm.

& yes, I keep toying with the idea of water cooling, but I would have a #### of a time justifying running liquid through my rig.

Maybe if I cooled it with that liquid that has 0% conductivity, but I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money.
