I get a news letter from EBGames every week and the PC game fare is getting down to slim to nothing. I have said in the past PC games are going to be extinct one of these days. We all know that there are still millions of PC players/modders out there but the PC game fare sucks. Look how long Diablo 3 has been in production. Look how long the next installment of Duke Nukem has been in production. I see a new game title that sounds interesting but when I go to check it out it is Online only. Feel free to post your comments or rants and raves.

It sounds like your issue is with the trends of pc games rather than quantity of games. Look at this page: http://www.ebgames.com/default.asp?sect=1271 That list of coming games shows that there are more PC games than any other single platform (although I don't care for any of them). The trend of gaming is headed towards online gameplay. I think it sucks that they don't realize that there are people like you that don't have the option for broadband. You are stuck with dialup and this means the gaming market is leaving you behind. Regarding development time, that is another issue with PC games. There are too many different PC configurations and this causes longer development times. The consoles remain the same... the pc gets upgraded daily. Perhaps the answer to this is to create the Phantom console and market games for it. Development time would drop and any PC gamer could play it regardless of whether they had the console or a PC. The tag line would be "play at your own risk if it's not a Phantom." But at least games would get developed. (This idea wouldn't work, but it makes a point.) Red, in your position I don't know who to be more angry with. The game companies are headed online and the broadband companies are sticking to the cities.

Yup. They are developing pc games but yuck they suck. I will be 60 next month and no broadband in site yet. Close but no cigar. Can't afford to move either since my 10 acres and all buildings are paid for. I would love to be able to play some of those online games. That would be awesome.

Project Offset looks like something I might be really interested in. Kind of reminds me of Heretic. As for Unreal Tournament. The only one that I have played many times is the first installment. It was the best to me since it had a really good SP ladder to play up.
