i don't see the need of being able to open older cod maps in the cod4 editor, why should you bother. you will miss all the textures, so it will look still like crap.

but, i don't hear anyone about scripting, i loved cod mapping (1 and 2), but i HATED the scripting.
so i realy hope they have choosen for real AI in cod4, instead of that old fasion C++ scripting. nobody uses that anymore, at least not in good games.

COD4 is gonna use a very similar language to cod1 & 2 (quakeC), with .gsc files for the scripting.

The reason for using this is that it is easily accessible, and of course previous modders already know the language.

I believe the AI is not controlled through these scripts, but is in fact an integral part of the game.

it's true, there is some kind of AI active in cod1,2 and that will proberbly be the same with 4.
still, i HATED the C++ scripting of it, simply because you need to script EVERYTHING.
every single sound, fire, explosion, door opening, etc, has to be made with a script. and when you know how to script, then that's fine. but what if you can't C++, but you can map, like myself. learning scripting is the only painfull and difficult dolution then, (or you need to work with someone who knows how to script).
so, should they work again with it in cod4, then i realy hope they only use it for 'real' things, and not those simple things like fire, explosions, sounds, movements of npc's and vehicels, etc.

for me it would be the reason to not map with it, (or just leave it at one simple sp-map, a REAL SHAME!!

guys just play it for awhile WITHOUT mapping and get a good idea in your head before you start mapping. then take some time and look around the new edition of radiant and see whats new and whats the same. who know, you might get a plasma gun for all I care[casanova]. I DO know that you will get an M16, M4, And I think a .50cal sniper rifle(.50cal= a bullet with a 1/2" diameter and around 6 inches long.[sniper][exclamation]

I like the fact that if you know someone is hiding behind a wall, you can change guns to one that can shoot through walls (better calibre) and then shoot him, brilliant.

50cal round aren't explosive. no bullet can be explosive because the heat from the powder ignition would set off the explosion inside the gun thus blowing up the gun right in your face! I know this simply cuz I have real guns and now hillary wants to take them away from me[eek] [eek] [eek][sniper] [2guns]

They don't KNOW if older maps will open in CoD4 Radiant? Are they KIDDING??

Ummm.....could be me, but maybe they should spend about 20 seconds and try to open one and then HAVE the answer?!?!

Don't know, my @$$. They just don't want to say. Of course they know...../Start Radiant 4/Open previous .map. DONE.

Even a Radiant beginner can figure that one out.....

Well it seems like we gonna have the same questions with cod4 as weve had for the last games(cod,coduo,cod2),,,They said the same things about the cod2 radiant that they did not know if the maps could be loaded from uo into cod2 radiant..
I had no problem loading my uo maps into the cod2 radiant,just had to retexture everything..
But i bet it will be a few months befor they release the editor..so dont hold your breath..Ive just finished the single player demo,,looks nice,,im gonna start building a map in caulk in preparation .. [crazy]
