Hi this is |ZERO|SgtBilkothe3rd of the ZERO clan. This is my first COD2 map.

I have been working for a while with |ZERO|Bloody on a COD2 mp_Chateau tribute map. Either you hate the original VCOD map, or you love it like me. This map will initially be tdm and dm only, but other modes may follow as time allows.

Our goal is a reasonably accurate representation of the original VCOD map by creating a COD2 version from scratch in COD2 Radiant. Many borrowed textures from VCOD, and a few custom textures, and a few custom models. We know that other Chateau maps for COD2 already exist, but I wanted to make my own version that is a bit more faithful to the VCOD original.

Two versions will likely be produced: One VCOD-like original map, and a "battle damaged" version with walls blown in, and maybe a few other tricky things. May eventually include a few scripts in future.

WIP (Work in Progress) Update 10/2/07:

Finished placing lights and furniture xmodels in interior, scaling exterior to more appropriately fit the map (something closer to the original VCOD map.)

Goal: Beta the map with clan members by Halloween.

I loved that map, but i have seen recreations, but they were wrong. So far it looks great! Some of the others added in different things that didn't look anything like the CoD map.
Few tips for coding.
1. Keep the script as short as possable.
2. Don't use comments unless you HAVE to point something out.
3. Don't over complicate the script, keep it orgainized and easy to read.

These help you find simple errors and makes it easy to make changes.

Thanks for your comments.

This map is meant to be a faithful recreation of the VCOD map, we have not changed it much from the original like some folks have seen fit to do in their COD2 versions. The scale of our version is not perfect, but it is probably approximately 95% accurate. We have spent much time measuring the original map and have also recorded over 1,000 screenshots of the VCOD version.

The only exception is one small extra playable area of the map that we added, but it should not affect the overall map feel much.

Some models like the motorcycle with sidecar are not available in COD2, so I will probably use some COD2 models there at first, then eventually use Milkshape and the new COD2 model converter to create a reasonable substitute.

Release date will depend on progress tweaking/making the map as good as we can, keeping fps up for players etc...

Projected latest release date is 12/25/07, but should actually be sometime in mid-November unless we have a major snafu.

Thanks for the compliments. This map I have been working on on/off since last April. My first map too.

I have tried to replicate as much of the original as I could, this map has a lot of detail in my opinion, for one mapper to deal with anyway! LOL!
