Take web 2.0 into consideration using technologies availible. More flash, javascript, etc. Create.

It would be nice to use those kind of things more, but you have to think about accessability. The more things you add which require extensions (like the flash player) the more stuff some poeple can't use/see properly. Granted most poeple do have the player installed, just certain places don't allow it.

I think something to take into consideration is allowing users to select themes. For example, the "Basic" site layout and a "Comprehensive" layout. The comprehensive could be as wild as you want.

Whats the point of having all these new cool web 2.0 things, and not using them?

Every "section" of a page is bordered in a box shape. To give it a little nice effect. Maybe round out the edges of the boxes kindof like the Xfire app design. Steam does it too. It just looks nicer.

supersword writes...I think something to take into consideration is allowing users to select themes.hehe. ok, lets see about one design before making multiple. lol. Otherwise it might be worth considering one theme that is fancy and another that is toned down. Of course, what to I show to non-members and will existing members even notice the theme change option?

The site is easy on graphics because some people complained that the site was too bulky to load. So I keep only a few graphics on a page at one time. Again though, latest gallery and project images will show on the home page. There just aren't any.

I'm surprised that someone dislikes the "newsgrabber" enough to eradicate it from their home page.

So... hey... there you go. How about a list of options that will show on the home page. You can pick and choose what is displayed. I like that idea (Scooby).

stupid icon has a white background now. [sad] I'll fix it later.

One site I really like the look of is ultimate-guitar.com. They do guitar tabs(music) and I kinda like the chain background.

And, I think, if anything should be compressed it should be the main menu. put the downloads stuff in it's own drop down, affiliate stores, generators, and modeling tuts. Stuff like that. That would really reduce the clutter on the left hand side.

As for the front page, what if you did something more like quarters? like this:

Yeah, that only took me 5 mins to make, but Do you see the layout I'm talking about?

I think people like to scroll down. Not have it in one box. Plus foyleman did not want a dark background (regarding to your chain bg you like)

I know, I'm just brainstorming.

how about something like this:

no? I kinda like it, and I have yet to see it on a different site.
My only concern is that it might take a bit longer to load the page, cuz when I hit preview in this post it took a second.

I still think the site is fine, maybe just some of the ad banners need to be removed.
