console popups automatically? hm... but these warnings etc. doesn't matter - ignore them

How do I go about ignoring them? There's only this small window in the center of my screen with all of those errors and COD4 console in the title bar. There looks like there's a line at the bottom to type a command. What command would take me to the game to play? I've tried a couple but none seem to work. These modding tools have messed up a lot of stuff for me and my son so far. Forum members have offered solutions to all of my problems so far except this one. Has anyone compiled a list yet of all the things that can go wrong with regular gameplay after a modding session and what to do about them? I would like to suggest to Infinity that they do. Some of the things I've encountered so far are: - Screen size stays at level-testing size when I start game - Profiles info erased from config and map files - COD4 console screen pops up when trying to start local server There must be others I've yet to find and, like I said, all but the last have been resolved with user input. Just my two cents worth.

I'm assuming that by the console screen, you mean that cream coloured window? It might accidentally be set on a dedicated server, have you changed the shortcut to launch Cod4? Or the config file? To get rid of the fullscreen after level testing, go to Cod4\bin\cod4compiletools, and open the 5 batch files in notepad. Remove any: +r_fullscreen 0 statements that you find. To restore the window back to full playing size (after you've fixed the first problem), bring down the console and type: \r_fullscreen 1 \vid_restart and you should be ok. edited on Feb. 15, 2008 01:45 pm by NovemberDobby

Thanks for the input. I'm at work right now but will post the entire contents of the window from home later. And it's a window that takes up about the center third of my screen. Blue title bar says COD4 console and I think the text window is cream colored. Will try to post a pic if I can remember how to post a pic to my website. LOL. Or can you upload pics directly into the text box? Oh, thanks for the screen size info but , like I said, that issue had been resolved. Not permanently , like I thought it would be though. One user said if you made your config file read only then it wouldn't happen again but it did to me. And, to my knowledge I haven't changed the shortcut or config file for COD4. Think it would be safe to do a reinstall? Thanks for the help.

That sounds like the console popup if you were to try to set up a dedicated server through internet. Make sure that next to dedicated it says NO, should open up to backlot

I'll make sure Dedicated is not YES. Thanks for the tip. Meanwhile I accidentally selected the shortcut for singleplayer and it prompted me for the disc which it doesn't always do. My son had the disc so I went and grabbed it from him then selected Multiplayer and it did fine. No console window. Coincidence? Not sure. I was asked earlier if the shortcut target had changed. For the properties for my shortcut I see the following: Target: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" Startin: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\" Startin IS where I have the game installed. This look ok?
