1. night vision doesn't work on my map, do i need an IWD file for it to work because i dont have an IWD file. What should i do to get night vision to work.
2.How do i put fog in my map?
3.I made a trench and it came out good but when im standing outside the trench i can see the trench through the solid ground surrounding it. how do i fix this?
4. How do i raise and lower parts of my brush.( i think its something to do with hitting Y).I want to be able to make the groun look uneven and bumpy in spots to give it a nice effect.
5. How can i keep the file size of my map low?(without taking things out from the map that are needed)

i know one of ur questions how to raise or lower ur gournd hit y then u get a radus thing that a blue circl with that u hlod alt and click over ur vericaies so u should have ur groun as a simople terrian patch. i also have to know how to put fog in and make my night vision work. but for the fog it might work by making a brush and using the fog texture but i dont know i need to try agian.

3. Make sure the surrounding ground is an axtual texture not a decal, they look very alike in Radiant but you can see through them.
4. You press Y to bring up the tool for that. Anymore than that I don't know because my tool won't open.
5. The maps are going to be very big in CoD4. Most maps around around 40-50 that are detailed. So there really isn't any way. Maybe try closing your skybox around the playable map as close to it and as low as you can.

Answer:
Y can only used on patches. Use V to move solid brush's vertices's. Y can be used for making terrain and for cave walls, floors, or cave roofs.

Answer:
I would suggest making "detail" brushes by right clicking in the 2D screen and selecting Make Detail. This might make the .map bigger, but helps on the .bsp

Hope these answers help you!
Few tips for coding.
1. Keep the script as short as possable.
2. Don't use comments unless you HAVE to point something out.
3. Don't over complicate the script, keep it orgainized and easy to read.

These help you find simple errors and makes it easy to make changes.
