Ok, I just tried to add a minimap to my level.

Ran through the turorial... but when I try to load the map it gives me the error "can't find file minimapdust" minimapdust being the file name of the .iwi I created.

Where is the iwi supposed to go? Any specific location? Its currently in the images folder.

Thansk guys.

To launch your map from the tools, you will now need to launch it in a mod. To do this make sure 'use custom command line options' is checked and enter:

Code:
+set fs_game Mods/customMaps

or the name of another mod that can handle custom maps.

To launch the map from the game:

Create a folder .../Call of Dusty 4 - Modern Warfare/usermaps/mp_mapname

In this folder put the mp_mapname.ff and mp_mapname_load.ff from the .../zone/english folder, and create a subfolder called images (in which you put the .iwi).

Send the images folder to a new .zip archive, naming the archive mp_mapname.iwd

There is a rumor going around that if you have the latest versions of the game and mod tools, you only need to put the .iwd file in the .../usermaps/mp_mapname folder. In my experience this isn't the case, and you will need to copy the .iwd file into the .../Mods/whatevermodyouwanttouse folder.

One you've added things like a loadscreen image, you'll need to put some other stuff in the .iwd also.

You've gotta put the iwi in an iwd archive, see here: http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-333.html for doing that. You only need to put a folder inside it called images, and put the iwi's in there.

Ok thanks I didnt realize I needed an iwd for the minimap.

As for the loading screen..could someone explain that to me a little better? I was really lost trying to understand the turorial.

I have my image ready to convert to iwi but I dont know whatt to name it or what settings to use in asset manager... etc.

Thanks

Ok, I copied the IWD from a working map onto the desktop, took out the files from that map and replaced them with the corresponding files for my map. I put the IWD in with the fast files in the usermaps/mp_(mapname) folder. And in the mods/custom folder with the other IWDs. Still errors out and the loading screen doesnt show.

Firstly, only the mod iwd's need to go in the modfolder- map iwd's only needed to because of a Cod4 bug in previous versions. What files did you put in your map iwd?

Within the iwd I made an images folder. In the images folder I have the iwi's for the loadscreen and minimap.

Seriously, thanks for taking the time to help with this.. I'm about ready to flip trying to figure this out. And I thought Hl2 was confusing at first [crazy]
