I know there are many posts about this, but every thread I have read as different instructions. I have tried everyone of them. And my loadscreen still doesn't work. I made a picture to use and saved it as a dds dxt5 file. Converted it into an iwi file. made a folder with myname.iwd and then an images folder. I put the iwi in the images folder and zipped it by right clicking the mymapname folder and zipped it and put it in a mod folder and it doesn't work. I have tried to rename it(there is two different threads that have to different files to use) loadscreen_map_mp_mymapname.iwd and loadscreen_mp_mymapname.iwd and neither work. Can some give me directions to do this from the beginning.?
I am sorry for the new thread....

as long as you mp_mapname.gsc file has this path added
for minimap
maps\mp\_compass::setupMiniMap("compass_map_mp_mapname");
for loadscreen
as long as you mp_mapname.csv has this
levelBriefing loadscreen_mp_mapname
Next
Make a folder on you desktop call it what ever u like
then make 3 folders or more what ever you need to add
im going to just use a few
name one
1. mp
2 . images
3. maps
like this
place your iwi file's into your images folder
compass ---- custom texture-----loadscreen
these files can be found in
Quote:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\raw\images
Inside you map folder place your
mp_mapname.csv
this can be found in
Quote:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\raw\maps or C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\raw\maps\mp
this depends on were you put it at
and for the mp folder
Quote:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\raw\mp
this is if you have made one if not you dont relly need this folder really
once you have all your files in the folders you now pick all three folders you made and send to a zip or rar
then you will have to rename it to your map lets san z_mymap.iwd does not have to be mp this file.
once you did this then take your z_mapname.iwd a place it into
Quote:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\ModWarfare
then in you editor rerun your fast file
before running the map check the box that say
use custom command line options
Then add this just like i have it
+set fs_game Mods/ModWarfare
This will lanch your map in ModWarfare with out an error as long as u have every thing done right
good luck mapping

I'm sorry, Killer, but only part of your post is true.
You may not put anything in the IWD except for .iwi files. Anything else will crash most servers. If you do this properly, you will not need to rename your .iwd.
Don't put the mp folder in the IWD - this is built into your FF
Don't put the maps folder in the IWD - this is build into your FF
CoDLiNK:
I think your original error is referenced in Killer's post. The .iwi files NEED to be inside that images folder that is in a myname.iwd FILE, not a folder by that name.
You had this almost right.
Instead of right clicking the mapname folder, right click the images folder and package just that portion into the .zip. Then rename to .iwd and you can put it where it needs to go.
Also, when you made the DDS, did you make sure to choose No Mipmaps?

not to make a debate about it but the iwd does not only have images it will also have a sound/misc folder aswell as sound/music these are custom sound like in game sounds aswell as sounds of a custom elevator or a flock of birds
as for the mp folder with the area file its realy not need very true thats why i said its not need but allot of tut tell you that u do as well as the csv file
just like Tally has posted here
http://iwnation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29191
about adding the map folder
forgot to add its a bit down the page

It doesn't go in any of the gsc files
levelBriefing,loadscreen_mp_mapname is one of the lines in the csv file that goes in /raw/maps
If you follow the tutorial for making a loadscreen the last step. (Making the level entry) makes this file.
My only advice is when following that tutorial, press F10 to make the assets, but don't hit the button in the COD4 Tools to "Run Converter." There are too many stock files that come with the editor that are not finished and will cause you bugs from then on. If you "Convert Selected Asset" in the asset manager, there's no reason to convert everything else.

Did you read what I typed, CoD?
It cannot be in the .gsc
However, there is a line that needs to be in the .gsc that says this
material,loadscreen_mp_mapname
Perhaps that's what you're looking for?
