Is there a way for more than one person (group) to work on one map at the same time?

Only thing you can really do is half a person work on part of a map and then send the .map file over to be copy and pasted.

My partner and I worked on subharbor together. All the buildings are prefabs. We divided those up and then sent the files to each other on xfire. The .map we took turns on. I would do the base map and terrain. He would do the models. Then we would just send back and forth. Just be careful to make sure who has the "current" copy. It can be done.

There's a reason why the prefab/layer systems are built into Radiant.

I think is that ¨Enter prefab¨ thing, isnt it?

some one works on the prefabs as you work with other stuff then you just
open/close your map and the updated buildings comes up.

so when you hit ¨enter prefab¨ is like entering in another sub-layer of your map without altering anything else around.

Press the (L) button by default in Radiant to open Layers GUI. Right click stuff in 2D window and look at the Layers options.

Both are pretty self explanatory. [thumbs_up]

And extremely easy to crash Radiant for good in that menu. If you know how to use it, can you illustrate, Sparks? I gave up after the first 3 crashes of just trying to layer a decal onto a texture.

Worked just fine for me right now and was first time I've actually used it. [crazy]

Just make a layer, set it to active, make your brushes, and add to active layer.
Now you can hide that layer or freeze it.

After looking at it, and opening blackout.geo and looking at the layers it looks just like a photoshop layer.

Say you had a valley map, and you were mapping a town in the valley and someone else was mapping the hills. You'd create a new layer and add buildings to it......your partner would work on terrain and add that to a different layer. Then you could just swap layers and combine them. (Not 100% sure how yet - still learning:) )

If you get the layers window open (L), and right click the 000_global parent you get options like 'create new layer' 'add selected to layer' 'hide layer' etc etc

Right click "The Map" and "create new layer", call it (say) "testlayer". R/c that "set as active layer".Anything you build whilst there is a green pic next to a layer name automatically gets added to that layer.

Will have to have a play around to see what works best :)
