hi guys

now i have my map fully compiling propely i have had to reinstall everything

the only thing that isnt working on my map now is my custom sounds which i figured out how to add them before

i just need to know how the line will look in the missing asset csv

my sound is

sound/mp_canalassault/gulls.wav

i have the soundalias and sound in place i know it works cos it works last timer im just missing the line in the csv thats the route of the sound file as i made my own mp_canalassault folder for my cusom sounds i just forgot what i added to the csv

Sounds are set up in your soundalias, you then call your soundalias from your zone files asset list with, ''sound,CSVNAME,MAPNAME,all_sp''

Remember any custom sounds wil need to be included in your .iwd when you distribute the map.

no mate with respect thats not correct mate. you do not have to include the custom sound cos it adds it to the ff for you.i tested this when sending my m8 my ff files and he heard the sounds withotu having the sound files m8 i had this working before its all set up correctly

yeah it works now i added sound,mp_canalassault,mp_canalassault,!all_mp

to my csv

but rasta just test it m8 you dont need to send the sound files with your map m8

Thanks for the info elim, naturally i have just always included any custom files due to the fact in the previous games you would have had too. Guess it makes sense really, didn't think about it. Good call [thumbs_up]

Apart from working on other peoples mp maps, i stick to sp mapping. I know that the soundalias would never work for me unless i defined the csv name and the mapname.

I have also set up mp maps in the same way so perhaps you can add the soundallias csv with defining it's name but i never had any luck with this. MP and SP maps deffinatly work using that set up though.

oldman

theres 2 lines in the csv i will paste here how i got custom sounds workign for me. this does not mean it everyone does it this way

firstly i find a custom sound that works i chose gulls.wav which i downloaded and listened to

now i create a custom folder in my raw/sound folder called the same as my map so i know where i am so

raw/sound/mp_mapname/gulls.wav

----------------------------------------------------------
now i add the sound and location to my fx txt file

//soundFX()

maps\mp\_fx::loopSound("gulls", (-894.5,-470.0,-113.5), 20);

----------------------------------------------------------------

now i go to my raw/soundaliases folder and make a file called mp_mapname.csv

in their i add
gulls,,mp_mapname/gulls.wav,0.7,0.9,,,,160,1700,voice,,,looping,,mp_mapname,,,,,,,,

--------------------------------------------------------

now i go to my asset manager and add these 2 lines


sound,mp_mapname,mp_mapname,!all_mp
sound,multiplayer,mp_mapname,!all_mp

-----------------------------------------------
replacing mp_mapname with the name of my multiplayer map and the wav file name with my wavfile name. change coardinates etc to suit and all works no problems at all

hope this helps anyone else haveing problems with custom sounds. basically i try to keep everything so i know what map its for and where it is hence the keeping my mapname for folders and files

No it's right what rasta said.
sound,CSVNAME,MAPNAME,all_sp
But after some tests i figuered out, that you don't need to put in the mapname if the name of the soundaliases csv-file is the same like the mapname.
So sound,CSVNAME,MAPNAME,all_sp
and sound,CSVNAME,,all_sp
will do the same (for me). 2nd way only less typing.

your correct it is right thats how i got my sound working again by adding

sound,mp_canalassault,mp_canalassault,!all_mp

i tried just adding the mapname like you did but didnt work for me . oh well i guess some things in cod4 tools work for some but not for others but im glad theres 2 ways round it so we can all do it [rocking]
