First of all, please post the exact error. We cannot diagnose the problem without detailed error reports.

That is the windows error, telling you Radaint has crashed. It says nothing about why Radiant crashed.

Does it crash when you try to save a very simple .map file, containing just one brush for instance?

Yes, Caretaker. It crashes everytime i try to save anything, even a blank file with nothing in it. It also crashes on autosave. I'm sorry i dont have more detailed error info for you, but that is all i can find.
Is there another place in Radiant that i could look for you? A logfile or something? I am totally new to Radiant and dont know my way around it yet.
thanks for your paitence

What operating system do you use? on most 64 bit computers you will need to run the editor as administrator, this can cause radiant to crash if you dont, has something to do with radiant trying to write to the disk.

Thanks Rasta, i am running 64 bit xp pro, and i tried running as administrator but it still crashed. I am beginning to think there are other problems as well because i have been getting direct x errors in game also. My system is set up diffrent too. I have vista ultimate on a raid array as primary drive and xp pro on a little 80GB Mabye the best way to handle this is to reformat and try again.

Are the drives in the array of the same make, size etc? If not you could be headed for more troubles. Also in Radiant, once you get it working, turn off Auto-Save as I find it can give no end of troubles. Just remember to save your work manually.

Yes they are twin 500GB, but the mod tools are on the xp drive. The array has vista on it. I will reformat and reload everything and see where that leaves me. Thanks everybody for trying and i'll let you know if it works out.
