Patrick Kierkegaard of the University of Essex, argues in the International Journal of Liability and Scientific Enquiry that video games are "harmless" and do not lead to real-world aggression.

Moreover, he claims that previous research work has been unfairly biased against video games.

That's funny [lol]

Somehow I doubt he "changed his life" because he himself was beginning to feel an overwhelming urge to go kill someone in real life because of his involvement in the gaming community...

At least he doesn't bash others for playing them though...

In the 60's, 70's and 80's, it was the music that was doing it. In the late 80's and 90's it was the movies and MTV videos.
In the late 90's to now it's movies and video games.
In the late 00's and 2010... who knows?

Let's all blame something based on fiction for our increasingly hands off approach to parenting. And while we're at it, let's tell every child that they're the best at everything and give them a sense of entitlement, so when they get a taste of the real world they're bitterly disappointed by having to put forth an effort to accomplish things that an underachiever was told they were doing wonderfully at for the past 12 years of school ...

/end rant LOL

[idea] Let's have the government do it for us!
Government cannot make people morally better by laws that interfere with nonviolent personal acts that produce no victims. Disapproving of another's behavior is not enough to justify a law prohibiting it.

I have lost count of how many times I have become frustrated with something/someone and to "cool off" I have played some war games and blew the animated heads off the enemy with my pixel ammo. You know what? After a while I get over what I was mad about and am able to handle the situation in a logical manner and surprisingly (yea right) I didn't punch someone, shoot someone, or hurt anyone or anything in the process.

Through the use of video games I can take all my pent up aggression out on animated characters thereby living a temporal fantasy invoked by the stresses of real life, and get over it. If you are a normal human being you will do something similar in the same situation by the use of a game; you will not decide to do it in real life after playing the game.

If Video games make you more violent, then you need to stop playing them but if you are that bad off in the first place, you shouldn't watch TV, read books, listen to music... heck, live un-medicated.

I completely agree that it's nothing more than lazy parents expecting everyone else to raise their kids and then expect the kids to become contributing members of society... it doesn't work that way nine times out of ten. Raise your own kids, watch for their personality quirks and crush aggressive tendencies the moment they surface.
