Working on something new which shouldn't take too long, don't think it's been done by any community SP mapper before and wanted to see if I could challenge myself and take it on. If anyone played CoD1 or CoD2 SP missions, you'll remember they had tank driving levels, which there weren't any in CoD4. Quick Tank Test Video (Stream) Haven't written a story line for the level yet, but it will be American based in the Middle East for sure. I'll be making the geo for this level, mostly terrain and models/prefabs I would picture. And I have a snazzy cool movie quote to go along with the level (that'll influence the story) like the rest of the stock maps (bonus points to whoever can name it without Googling :)): "Just another day in paradise." If anyone has suggestions or ideas for gameplay, feel free to post. :) I was thinking of having little repair spots in the level the player could drive up to and an engineer crew repairs (aka heals) you, with animations if there are any the look good for such a scenarion.

Just an update, in the mission the player will be driving an M1A1 Abrams, it's a lot cooler than the Bradley (as seen in the test image/video in original post). Feel free to write a letter if you like that idea. More work, mainly on the vehicle GUI + controls (which can't be seen in a still image unfortunately). Had to fiddle with Asset Manager a bit to make a special tank for the player. I'm not too happy with the camera view (you see less of the tank when you aim up), but I can't really change it since I don't have the model source to move the tag. Changing the FOV would show more of the tank but it's a dirty fix and looks ewwww in game. Players can change it while they're playing if they wish. Added some test AI to blow to smithereens (rag doll in CoD4 really shines in this tank map ). This area is a sort of a quick training section + intro to the level + some fun tank shooting to familiarize the player with the controls. That's all I'll say about the mission until final release. Most of the feedback I got on SP_Backlot was lack of direction, so I'm hoping to really nail BattleChatter with fellow infantry soldiers and tank chatter among the tank crews. And yeah, I'm designing the level too, so feel free to write a letter for that too if you like it.

Remember Charlie dont surf intro? all the black hawks entering in the city together? It could be awesome maybe to have a few minutes ride along with a hole regiment of tanks (maybe two or three right in front of you, so one of them can be blow up by an ambush) you know... Kind of glorious intro to the mission, all this along with a good music track playing whyle the battle chatter talks about the objectives. maybe im asking for too much right? edited on May. 21, 2008 04:31 am by one_richard

Any chance of hopping out of the tank with knuckle dusters at the ready before calming down and hopping back in?
