Hey every1,

My map ckm_office is as good as finished. Only i got 1 problem...
The part of my map with the most glass textures causes fps lag. I think its because of the glass but i experimented some with the glasstextures in a test map, but i didn't have fps lag when i tested it.

i made some portals yes, but in the part that contains all glass not, because im not sure where to put the portals...

Are you sure it's because of the glass?
If you replace the glass by another texture, does it lag too?

Also, did you make the glass out of structural or detailed brushes

I made the glass detail brushes,
and im pretty sure it must have somethin to do with the glass textures. Nowhere in my map I experience this ammount of fps lag as in the glassy area. I got like 8 other stories with glass, but i made those glass pieces non-colliding.

btw you should rlly see how it lags... if you just hold ur screen still it dousnt lag, but if you shake it, it starts lagging.

well it depends, normally k have like 200 fps in that part of the map if i dont move my screen. If i move it then, it will drop to like 20-30 until i hold my screen still again. Then its arround 200 again. So it actually gives large fps drops when you move ur screen.

Strange, well your best option is to first try and portal this area, maybe also try to simplify it by removing any models your dont need.

Is the glass scripted? If so the efx may be causing the engine to slowdown..

the glass is just a glas_blend_in glasstexture. And about the portals, im not sure where to add em. If you want me to put them between the glass pieces, wouldnt it be so that if you look trough it you cant see the glass behind it? Because i cant have that. The glass is a great part of the map because you can shoot trough several layers.

After experimenting some with the fps lag, i noticed something about the portals.

If i would stand in front of the portal and shake my screen, i started lagging insane. If i'd step inside the portal and i'd shake my screen, there was harshly any lag :S

Could the portal cause the lag in any way?
