I know there are quite a few threads on loadscreens, this is different, I think.

I followed the tuts, added files here there and everywhere as directed and kept getting this in a console_mp.log

ERROR: image 'images/loadscreen_mp_piped.iwi' is missing

I added .iwi to any and all image folders.

The one that got the loadscreen to show ingame was adding it to the players/images folder.

Now I receive this:

script compile error
bad syntax
ambientPlay(:ambient_crossfire");
(see console for details)

*can't see console

So I looked in the .gsc

main()
{

maps\mp\_load::main();

levelBriefing loadscreen_mp_piped

ambientPlay("ambient_crossfire");

game["allies"] = "marines";
game["axis"] = "opfor";
game["attackers"] = "allies";
game["defenders"] = "axis";
game["allies_soldiertype"] = "desert";
game["axis_soldiertype"] = "desert";


}

Looks just like any other .gsc I have in my custom maps, except the levelbriefing line...

I remove that and the loadscreen works as advertised.

This isn't anything like what I read as to loadscreens and how do I get this info to those who want to load my maps? They aren't going to add .iwi to their players/images folder are they?

Your console canbe pulled down by holding the shift and ~ keys.

As for your error, there is a ; missing after your loadscreen line in your .gsc file.

I added the missing ":" (no quotes), still doesn't work.

Remove the levelBriefing line from gsc and it works, ONLY with .iwi in players/images folder.

I have 2 copies of game, one for mapping, the other for playing.

I can't get it to run on the gaming copy, locks the game up. I can run other maps I don't have loadscreen for though.

Probably because it can't find your .iwi file, if it is still giving that "ERROR: image 'images/loadscreen_mp_piped.iwi' is missing" error.

yes it is

does this help...it is the fast file

If it helps...I don't have the vision and fx .gsc files...do I need them? Never used them on other maps.

Well, finally got this working....

I put .iwd in images folder, put .csv in maps folder and deleted the levelbriefing line in gsc.

Works in real game.
