ok, i have got a map to load and have messed around on it, i used TDM spawns, i also done my world spawn and my sky box but i dont think u need them to done for the map to load up as i didnt do them the 1st time...and yes, everything was black apart from lil lights i put in.

anyway

i'm using ffa spawns now. i put on in and my map went straight to blackot so i thought i might need to 2 spawns since its ffa and u need to someone to kill but still done the same.

How many spawns do i need for it to work and is there anything else i need to add in for the map to load up that i have over looked. I want to check out what i've done already to make sure it looks ok.

You only need 1 spawn for DM, mp_dm_spawn
and dont forget the mp_global_intermission (spectator spawn)

are you doing
\g_gametype dm
then loading the map? cuz default is WAR/TDM

hmmm

ok, i using radient, i right click on my map and do

mp then dm_spawn

it puts the spawn spot in, then i save, exit, complie BSP/complie reflections/build fast files/update zone files, then i complie BSP again/complie reflections again and bilud fat files and then click "run selected map" as i've done for my other maps. I do it that way cos i dont know what ur ment to do after you update zon files, so i do it all

For MP

A closed in box (no leaks) (and yes worldspawn settings are needed but the map will load without them), TDM spawns (allied start points, axis start points and TDM general spawns), at least 1 global intermission, a successful compile, build into fast file. For DM then its just 1 DM spawn, but make sure that Global intermission is included.

And finally, the basic MP script (this will do:)

main()
{
maps\mp\_load::main();

game["allies"] = "marines";
game["axis"] = "opfor";
game["attackers"] = "allies";
game["defenders"] = "axis";
game["allies_soldiertype"] = "woodland";
game["axis_soldiertype"] = "woodland";
}

With all files in correct directories.

If the map loads fine then you can just do:

/g_gametype dm
/map_restart

Or use the +set commands in the compiler to run the map with the dm gametype straight away. Always load you map in developer mode, to check for errors in the console log.

ok i'm getting confused now

why do i have to enter scripts codes or type anything in. I didnt have to b4 when i used the tdm spawns. I had my 3 spawns, allied, axis and the other one, then ruan selected map.

why for dm map have you got to enter all this?

You have to type that stuff because you want to run your map in DM. Without it it will run in TDM, because that's what CoD4 MP starts in normally.

got ya, so its trying to load in tdm and obviously it cant cos i a'int got the tdm spawns.

ok... i done this or atleast i've done it right.
still not quite sure on how to make the .gsc file.

this is what i done

i right clicked on my desktop and made a new txt file, in that file i have done the following....

main()
{
maps\mp\_load::main();
maps\mp\_exploding_barrels::main();

game["allies"] = "marines";
game["axis"] = "opfor";
game["attackers"] = "allies";
game["defenders"] = "axis";
game["allies_soldiertype"] = "woodland";
game["axis_soldiertype"] = "woodland";
}

i renamed the file and put .gsc at the end and placed it in
raw\maps\mp folder with the other gsc files.

my file doesn't say its agsc file like the others abd still says text document. so i'm guessing thats not how u create a gsc file, is there something in the mod tools u click on which makes one that you just edit??

i really just want to see my map up and running b4 i do too much

i have now put in tdm spawns instead of dm spawns and the map loads up fine, so its jus this gsc file i need help please, whats the right way to create it

your script file is probably a .gsc.txt file, which means it's a text file still.
Turn on the filetypes by doing this:

Open Windows Explorer
Go to Tools->Folder Options
Tab "view"
UNcheck "hide extentions for known filetypes".

then remove the .txt extention.
