Hmm.. While you will get positive results from following this video, you may also come up with more questions.

I'm sitting here talking with stryder and welshy running through all sorts of issues. This includes the error I got in the video where I had no sounds. I guess I never had sounds in my test maps previously either.

When working with MP maps, even more errors come up.
Hopefully we can figure them out and I will update the video.

In the meantime, I think I'm leaving the video online as it does help people in one way or another. Then I will update it as I learn more.

ugh.

Foyle i too have no sounds in my sp map (footsteps, guns etc..) After all day trying to solve it i have come up with the probable cause being the fact that we are missing most sound files. They should be located in sounds/sfx but we dont have this folder and it isnt in any of the .iwds

Now i assume then that the sound files are compiled into the fastfiles, that would explain why stock maps are ok. You can call all the sounds from the csv but they can't be loaded. I think it's a case of waiting for them to make the sfx folder available to download.

I hope im completly wrong and there is a work around, if so im all ears.

you need to extract the sound folder from iwds 14 -through 20 to your raw folder (they were apparently removed from the tools prior to release - i have heard everything from potential copyright issues to filesize issues (the tools did come in at 1.1G...idk) you may still have some missing sounds - but this gets you going

you also need to add:

Code:
// sounds
sound,common,yourmapname,all_sp
sound,generic,yourmapname,all_sp
sound,voiceovers,yourmapname,all_sp
sound,requests,yourmapname,all_sp
sound,weapons,audio_test_tuey,all_sp

to yourmapname.csv (obviously substituting 'yourmapname' for whatever your map name is) *you will find this in zone_source/

i suggest wordpad if you dont have an advanced editor - i suggest NOT using excel

recompile your fastfile after these changes and you should have sound

i have informed foyle of the changes required - and you all should expect a new video from him as soon as he has the time to redo it....i would expect it to include sp and mp....

FYI the sound files get packed into the fastfiles
