new0r has screenshots of the Far Cry Instincts map editor. Supposedly, with this editor you can edit maps and share them on Xbox Live in September when the Xbox version of the game is to be released.
Ubisoft has opened the doors to a FarCry mapping contest. You could win "prizes including an NVIDIA and AMD Dream System, NVIDIA graphics cards
from BFG, AMD Athlon 64 Processors and Ubisoft game titles." Interestingly enough, the submissions need to be made by postal mail and not email.
The makers of FarCry have finally released the SDK that has made the game FarCry so popular. This SDK will allow users to modify the game in so many different ways. This almost brings tears to my eyes.... I'm happy to say that I'll definitly be trying this baby out. More info below with 3 download locations.
The 1.2 patch for Far Cry has been released and it fixes a whole lot of things. One of the most notable was the quicksave feature added to single player (which in itself had approximately 100 bug fixes). Check out the Readme file for more information on the changes (lots of damage changes, cvar variables, etc. for multiplayer as well).
Another FarCry demo has been released. This one is based on that map that was found in the UK. For the hefty, but worth while price of 518Mb, you too can play the new demo, Research. Fileshack and Filepanet is serving it up for you.
When the demo was released on CD in the UK, the source files included a second map inadvertantly left on by the developers. Ubisoft agreed to allow the level be posted for distribution and... well... here you go:
There's a new FarCry trailer over available that not only shows some nice in-game action, but also shows off how detailed this game really is. Pretty amazing stuff. I am looking forward to seeing the map editor for this game. I could only find the video over at FileShack.
