Some schools and even some businesses will block certain sites due to material. For example, many schools block MODSonline.com because it's a gaming site. Being a gaming site, how could it be educational?

Are you in this situtation? Maybe we can figure out a way around this problem. If you are being blocked, vote in the poll and comment about where and how you think it's being done.

My school has some stupid filter. I can easily make a proxy from my IP like I did before and share it to everyone. Then we are all happy :)

we have like 32 laptops in our media center. I hardly ever get to them. either way, I'm in a private school =( in which students are few and teachers stare at my screen 24/7. We can't even go to google images because it's too 'graphic'.

I'm not blocked at college so it's not a problem. Although I only really log in when I have the time. I'm normally busy with something. If I am on the tills at work I usually log in. Monday evenings are so slow and quiet. Nobody suspects a thing.

My school doesn't block it, My school only uses the government filters which is myspace, porn, proxy webs, Most game sites work and a lot of others work. They also blocked google images but me and my friend soon found a way through by just removing images. at the front, The government can be morons sometimes...

I can get on pretty much any website (including modsonline) at university... Just as well really because i'm studying computer games development...

I know my office uses a hardware firewall now. It blocks based on website category - and games / gaming is blocked. i have also noticed that some poorly categorized sites are blocked - for instance some construction sites have incorrectly categorized themselves as real estate...which apparently is blocked by the firewall. if you were to categorize it as educational - then i know it would allow it - but i am unsure about what the possible repercussions of incorrectly categorizing or dropping into a grey area would be. it may do more harm than good

I usually have a substantial amount of time in my Programing class to web browse, and play around with programs. I get mad that I cant check out my favorite site at school, because the filters block it for gaming related. I used to write my mp map GSCs in class, when I was done with work, but once I needed help, I would have to wait until I got home to ask questions on modsonline. Ironic that I do more programming at home, on CoD than in my Programing class.

lol, i go on VNC at school, and theres a really good computer at my school so i hop on the computer, type in my IP, hop on my computer and play call of duty :D

Hey guys, go to schoolislame.com. From what I hear, as soon as the page opens the filter is immediately turned off! My neghbors and I were screwing around on youtube and stuff when we just typed it in and saw what came up.

School blocks modsonline here, but it's not school itself; just a council thing. A friend of mine has a proxy we can use. I've usually finished work before the end so I come on here for a while

yea back at my other school they blocked it. i was the ONLY one in the school that even knew of the website. i used this website to help get a 100% on a huge report that had to do with anything i wanted, and i picked it on the false behavior of JT. Soon after my 100% they blocked the site saying "its uneducational". sry bud, but making virtual poo-poo my life, its my hobby, it will be my job. how is it uneducational?
