I hadn't heard much about this game prior to playing, so my mind was open to just about anything. I was simply looking to relax and have some fun.
I loaded up the game and watched the introduction. I found it to be quite familiar... then I realized... it was the same premise as Splinter Cell. The intro told me how I had to infiltrate an area and be as stealthy as possible. Setting off alarms and alerting enemies to my existence would compromise my mission. "OK." I thought. "So, it's like another game. That should only make it more fun as if it were an add-on for something I have played before."
I spawned into the level and was ready to roll. I cautiously made my way down to the fence and "beep, beep, beep" I set off an alarm. lol. So, perhaps I had to get adjusted to my new environment and I would wait for the enemies to arrive so I could go out in style. Apparently, the alarms only make the enemies run faster. I was still alone in this level and carrying on about my business. This was not a good sign of a well-designed game.
The alarm is blaring, there is nothing left to lose, so I am off to have some fun. I shoot my way around the map. I kill everyone in sight. I have no trouble opening doors or unlocking gates. I pick up ammo and weapons like it's going out of style (since all my dead foes drop it next to them). I am left asking myself, "Fun? What fun?"
There was little to no challenge in this demo. I am fearful of what the full game will bring me. Other than a lighter wallet.
There weren't any flaws in controls. The levels and models were acceptable. The menu was simple and easy to follow.
If you are looking for something fun to play, stick with Splinter Cell. That is one game you won't regret purchasing.
