MODSonline Present - MODSCON ’06 – MODSonline Contest 2006
MODSonline Present, The Custom Map Contest for Call of Duty and Soldier Of Fortune 2 2006.
Contest runs from 31 December 2005 to 30 June 2006. Maps may be submitted at any time during that period by email at modscon@modsonline.com or through our online submissions page.

Rules:
  1. Winners will be announced 31 July 2006.

  2. Participants must be 13 years or older.

  3. One map per contestant – all contestants must be members of MODSonline.com in order to compete.

  4. Maps must fit into the theme of Call Of Duty and Soldier Of Fortune 2 (i.e. no science fiction alien invasion maps)

  5. Maps must contain original content. Map cannot be an altered version of an existing Call of Duty or Soldier of Fortune 2 map. Remember, one of the things we will be judging is originality, historical authenticity and creativity. The submission must include both the .bsp, .map, and texture files as well. Make sure all content is included in your submission or map will be disqualified.

  6. Maps sent in must be bug free (We just don’t have the time to bug test them for you). Any bugs found will count against the score. Average fps, with a complete and detailed Readme (You can use the Readme Creator at MODSonline.com, must accompany the map. With your submission you must also include a correct shipping address (Your Complete Home Address) so we can send your prize, should you win, without delay. Prizes not collected within 30 days will be resubmitted to the next contest.

  7. Maps must contain the correct scripting for the default game mods that were supplied by the original developers SDK and or tool sets.

  8. Custom Textures and Models are encouraged.

  9. Maps may not be released to the public until the winners are announced. However, closed beta testing is allowed and encouraged. We also encourage you to release screenshots and info about your map, particularly on our forums. At the contest’s end, all submitted maps will be released to the public via a MODCON Mappack. MODSonline will provide file hosting for the MODCON Mappack mirror sites are not required.

  10. Maps must be submitted via email at modscon@modsonline.com or our online submissions page.

  11. MODSonline.com is not responsible for items lost or damaged in the delivery of prizes. Should items be defective it is the responsibility of the winner to contact the hardware manufacturer for repair or replacement of defective items.

  12. All submissions must be free of anything deemed obscene, profane, or offensive. What is deemed obscene, profane, or offensive is at the sole discretion of the judges at MODSonline. Any submission deemed to contain anything obscene, profane, or offensive will be immediately disqualified. All map submissions, that are accepted, become property of MODSonline in order to use for future site promotions and site content.

  13. Any submissions containing a virus or other malicious software will immediately be disqualified and the creator may face being banned from entering any future official MODSonline contests and competitions.

  14. Adherence to these rules is mandatory. Questions can be directed to any of the Admin Staff thru the forums at MODSonline.com. Please do not PM Admins or Moderators regarding the Contest.

  15. Insuffient contestant submissions may result in the cancellation of this contest.

Judging Criteria:
  1. Resemblance to the original maps in size, game play, scale, and overall feel.

  2. Creative Liberties (if applicable): Basically, if you added new and improved scripts etc to make it cool, that is a good thing.

  3. Textures & Geometry: Minimal flickering or seeing-through of walls and textures, texture colors and appearance, solid geometry (no falling through floors, walking through walls, etc).

  4. Detail Level: Are all of the objects there? Trees, shrubs, cars & other vehicles, etc. Have any been added that look cool (exploding mines, furniture, etc.)?

  5. Spawn Points: Do players spawn where they are supposed to?

  6. Functionality: Do the doors work? Does glass break? Are vehicles scaled correctly?

  7. Weather: What kinds of weather effects does the map have? Feel free to take some liberties with this one.

  8. Bonus: Does the map have Co-op capabilities or other non-adversarial functionality.
