Creating a Distant Smoke Effect

Creating a Distant Smoke Effect

For this task we are going to create a distant smoke effect. These are very effective if you want to draw the player in a certain direction or show the player that there are other battles taking place on the island.

  1. Create a new Mission file
  2. Insert a USMC Rifleman on to the Map
  3. Set the USMC Rifleman as Player controlled
  4. Click on the Systems tab, expand the FX folder and select the Particle system object.
  5. Click on the map to place the Particle system object. Move the object a good distance away from the player, perhaps at a higher altitude.
  6. Ensure the Particle system object on the Map is selected to display the properties for this object in the Modify window.
  7. Click on the drop down box to reveal a large selection of effects. Find the one called X_SMOK_ASM_Master1_H_Vert, then run the Mission.
