The www out of http://www.modsonline.com got taken out and it's totally bugging me since normally I just double click the modsonline part and type in the site I want because firefox auto highlights just that word in a double click. And then I go from there. And modsonline is my homepage.

So now I can't do that... where did the www part go?

Yeah, it was taken out. Live with it. It wont do any harm.

It amazes me the nonsense people start threads over.

Yes, in another thread I mentioned that I removed the www part. I did it for simplicity and hopefully for better search engine results.

If you do visit www.modsonline.com it will still come here.

So you are saying you have some sort of firefox extension that automatically links any URL that starts with www.? Tell me more about this.

Just pick any site, like google. Just double click on the google part and it only highlights the word "google" rather than the entire URL when you double click it like every other web browser does.

@DemonSeed, no one listens to a sped.

I see what you mean. It took me a moment to figure out that you are double clicking the word in the address bar and not on the page.

Technically you should be able to visit google.com, msn.com, and whateverdomain.com and not need the www in the front.

In the future it might be easier for you to:
- single click the address bar which by default selects ALL the contents of the address bar.
- type the site you want to visit such as "google"
- then press CTRL+Enter.

This automatically adds "www." to the beginng and ".com" to the end and works in most browsers.

And I'm sure DemonSeed didn't correctly understand what you were getting at and didn't mean to insult you. He's pretty helpful around here and rarely combative.

It's more for organization, it makes all the sites line up properly when all typed in the same on the drop menu.
