I had a chance to checkout TimeShift last night. It's a shooter that's coming out this Fall on PC and Xbox 360.

Before playing it, I thought it was going to be nothing more than an FPS with time changing options (slow, stop, reverse time) that would make it like cheating. Turns out to be much more than that. It's going to be a good game.

I played both ports and have to say the PC port is the most fun. Although, I was playing an early build of the game so things could get better.

I can't think of anything that I really did not like about it other than the xbox look control which may be adjusted before it's released.

I don't expect mod tools to be released for the game. If they are, it will be centered around Maya. They pretty much built the entire game in Maya and exported it to their engine. Engine was about 5 years in the making before the game was built on top of it.

Keep an eye on this game game.

If you look up Saber Interactive and think that this is going to be another Will Rock game.. you are wrong. Atari is giving them more room to do what they want and the engine is 1000 times better.

No offense, you keep saying it's better than you'd think, but you don't give any reasons. Can you describe why it's better than one might think?

First, you should head over to gametrailers.com and take a look at some of the videos. These vids lead me to believe the game was just an FPS with a cheat that lets you stop time during gameplay. While playing, I found out that utilizing time altering effects was necessary.
- you are placed in outnumbering odds against bad guys that you couldn't win against without time change
- there are mini-puzzles in the game that require you to use time to get through
-- stop time to walk through fire or over water
-- reverse time to open gates that require two levers to be used at the same time

Those are a couple of examples.

Sounds kind of like a mixture of Max Payne and Timesplitters. Only for "next-gen". Or you could even stretch it and see similarities to Viewtiful Joe I suppose. Sounds interesting, I'll keep it in mind.
