http://techspot.com/tweaks/sof2For the moment it's more so single player oriented, though cvars should apply ok to multiplayer as well. Troubleshooting & other performance tips too of course for all the options with some card specific stuff |

Quote (dysfunctional @ June 23 2002, 10:13 pm) | It explained the settings but mostly I got bombarded with ads that ad muncher could turn off but only by not allowing the page to load. Sneaky! If you follow the guide then any 64 meg card would (pretty much) allow full settings. Did anybody over there ever really play this game... they write like they didn't. |
Yes, thats right I posted the guide without playing the game at all. I just "guessed" all the available settings & made up what they did.
As regards the ads, dunno, I didn't do the html. That said there are no ads on the site that can't be disabled & would effect page functionality as a result, "ad muncher" seems to be messed up in some way if thats what you're saying.
Sigh, you write too "complicated" they say you've never played the game, you write like an idiot & they can understand it all then its not detailed enough, sigh. |

Quote (dysfunctional @ June 24 2002, 08:50 am) | The page has more ads per square inch than any I have ever seen. The guide suggests that you can play the game with certain features turned on having only a mid-range card: you can't!!! |
You've not been to that many sites then Anyway, so what, the server costs have to be met somehow, perhaps if less people disabled ads (like you) & actually clicked on them now & again the net wouldn't be filled with popups & other crap.
Your point is neat but I've tried them all on my system - my system ain't exactly high end either - Windows XP, GeForce 4 4400 256MB RAM, Audigy, 1.2 Ghz Athlon.
Then only thing I keep down is FSAA & anisotropic filtering. DXT5 textures & 32-Bit for translucent textures. Playable enough for me the vast majority of the time. Just because your system may have problems doesn't necessarily invalidate everything I've wrote up. |

Quote (dysfunctional @ June 24 2002, 3:54 pm) | If you would have read much in this forum instead of coming here to advertise, you would have seen the screenshots I posted running the game at 1280 x 1024 with my o/c pent4. I have also gotten the game to run on a system as slow as a pent3 800... so, I know of what I speak. I have also been running around the net since the first introduction of Mosaic.... so, spare me the education on ad clicking. Sorry that it impacts you directly, but when enough of these overcharging types go under, we can get back to some realistic expectations about the net. What is going on now is some type of forced ad coding that will not allow pages to load unless you read the ads... result? People will not go to your page. You will go under quicker!! People will simply not put up with that much eye pollution. |
I've been lurking around this forum while I wrote the guide & I've been around during SOF1 days too, here's a neat flashback from the SOF1 FAQ as regards a problem with one of the earlier patch removing EAX support - "Thank you Thomas McGuire for helping out spot that one. I can't believe we missed it ourselves:)"
As regards the screenshots, would you like an award? Wow, I can change resolution too. 800Mhz ehh? Pfff, I've SOF2 running on my backup system which is a P700, 256MB RAM, Kyro 2. Someone give me a medal, I installed the game & ran it.
Again, there are no ads on the page required for the site to load. I think I should know if if I didn't do the html. none of the ads point directly to the site so whatever you are using to block it is messing up. Now, seeing that you're "so" helpful why don't you write up your own guide & inspire us with your superior knowledge rather than whinging about your "ad muncher" not being able to block ads without killing the site. heck, you can post in on your own ftp without ads & we'll all go yay. |
