If your game crashes when choosing or picking up one of the new weapons, you need to delete any pk3s that alter the weapon properties, such as: Real Damage No M203 nades Ringo Dingo TacOps N00bkiller sanitization (sic) man downetc. If you know of any more, please post them here. Also, if one of the ones I posted is harmless, feel free to smack me upside the head. |

Well I have a problem when playing the game with a firewall. I suggest turning it off if you are playing with one. I never had to do this on 1.01 or 1.00, but hey. I had a similar problem with the game freezing in 1.01. Every time I exited and quickly reclicked the MP icon my screen went black and I had a white error message. When I restarted my computer or somehow got out of the situation my screen resolution was always the same as the game's. However noone responded to my post questioning the problem, so it still remains a mystery to me. Maybe you should try playing without a router. May be too much of a hassel. And then again I play behind a router. That's not a problem I have. Try closing all background programs. Try editing a update~1.pk3 to update 1.01. (These may not be the correct extensions but they are hidden in the general discussion forums somewhere) Try downloading the patch from another mirror. Maybe yours is faulty. You never know. Try running wiser. Hope you find something that helps. I don't think my problems have any relevance to your problem though. Keep trying! I think the saying went, "Look at the cup half full and not as half empty." -Default |

Quote (dysfunctional @ Sep. 24 2002, 9:21 pm) | I play behind a router. But I have always done that. No other person in the family plays this game. I have deleted the game again. And this time I deleted all the folders. I will probably try it again tomorrow... by then maybe someone will have an answer. The game never.... ever crashed before this patch. I am using the same drivers etc.
One point... when it crashes, it comes back to the desktop and keeps the same resolution I use in the game and not my normal desktop resolution. It still does not make sense sense the game played perfectly before the patch.
Oh well, maybe back to Day of Defeat. Or something else. Nothing good lasts forever. As I said many times... I got my money's worth.
See you all later...... |
That is 100% the exact same thing that happens to me! It is so so fustrating, as before this patch, my game never crashed. The game sometimes works, on CTF mostly, but trying to get Demo to work, hah, good luck. I have tried re-installing it, but no luck. Nothing works, and now I never get to play SoF2 anymore. I really hope someone figures out how to fix this soon.
btw, my game usually right after the server has loaded up, it shows the team screen, then bang, down it goes, with the bad resolution on my computer. |
