We could do with 1 or 2 sticky threads that are useful to the community so post them here!

This thread should be for programs that help with JK3/JA server administration, log viewing, JK2->JK3 convertors/mods and so on. Please don't post links to maps/mini-mods/new main menu backgrounds etc

Start of with the first mother of all JK3 tools, GTKRadiant from http://www.qeradiant.com/ . This is the best Radiant out there for mapping for JA, forget converting your old JK2 Radiant, get this and enjoy mapping power! If you need help with it, that's what forum communities are for!

I'm going to start off with a a game runner created by our very own Aphextwin, get it here. This program helps with the creation of a server providing you with all the options you can think of :)

There is a mod to add the original JK2 speech to JK3 players which you can get here. I know this isn't a program or tool per-se but it is something that is more of a "fix" albeit it a nostalgic fix

A game minimizer for ET/RTCW/JA/JO/EF/W3D among others can be picked up here

If I see more I'll be sure to post them and I urge you to do the same!

Alternative Server Browsers/Launchers

I'll post the following because at the current time they can not only help server admins gain traffic, but greatly assist those looking to join one of the more than 600+ JA servers online.  These are both alternatives to the ingame browser and signing up with GameSpy...

1)  The All Seeing Eye
http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html

This is probably the most popular and most powerful alternative server browser for JA available.  It's shareware with a 21 day trial - though it IS still 100% useable after the alloted trial period.  It's fully functional as a browser, except the Buddy lookup system is disabled in the unregistered version. There are no ads or spyware that come with it, and the only nag after the 21 days is a popup at startup asking you to register.  Registration is only $10/yr, or $30 lifetime, and is well worth the cost if you find the ingame browser lacking in certain features, or if you have a lot friends online.  If you've never used a server meta-browser like this before, it's very easy to setup and manage, and there is an online help manual which is very thorough.  According to the website's News page, it has been installed on over 2.5 million computers worldwide, and over 40% of the FPS community currently uses it.

2) Qtracker (w/QtUplink)
http://www.qtracker.com

While a little more complicated to use than ASE, this is probably the more flexible of the two.  It is true Freeware, with no-ads, no-nags, no-spyware, and no-timeouts.  It comes with a Buddy managment system included, so it's easy to keep track of and find your friends quickly.  It has the majority of standard filters included, and it's very easy to make your own custom filters and install them yourself.  One of its features that ASE doesn't have is the ability to display Map screenshots of different levels, which are submitted to the site by community members.  There is also a great feature called QtUplink, which allows one to launch a server of their own and have it seen on the QT master server list over the internet (you won't see it yourself since it only shows across the internet, not locally, but a friend can confirm it's there). So for all of you having difficutlies starting up a server and having your buddies find it online, this is an ideal solution. Probably the only real negative is that the amount of options can be a little overwhelming, and it's not as simple to use as ASE.  However, it can be configured to your tastes by clicking on the Options button in the main menu very easily.

So hope these help many of you find that special server you're looking for!  And may the force be with you...

I made a minimizer program as well.  It runs similar to ETCW, and supports these games:

*Quake III Arena
*Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force (SP)
*Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Holomatch (MP)
*Star Trek: Elite Force II
*Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (SP)
*Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (MP)
*Return to Castle Wolfenstein (SP + MP)
*Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
*Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (SP)
*Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (MP)
*Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix (SP)
*Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix (MP)

EDIT: The third revision has made it to jk3files.com now, get it at http://www.jk3files.com/file.info?ID=20333

Please check it out if you wish. :)

Since this started with a GTK radiant info link, I guess that some Editing Links for JA would be important...

So far I've found very interesting info referring to editing at map-center; check Map Center's JA editing forum:

http://www.map-center.com/modules....um&f=25

Some of the stickies there give lots of info referring to JA editing; they've been created by Jesterpaz and Raven, both workin for Ravensoft. My favourites:

siege map creation info: http://www.map-center.com/modules....&t=1537

weather system: http://www.map-center.com/modules....&t=1661

and more!

hope this helps!

Kewl! There used to be a great tutorial on the Q3 editor/GTK radiant, but I've misplaced it and have found myself stuck at square one . . . Thanks!
