Hi, i recently purchased a copy of Quake 4from EBgames and ended up returning the first copy of Quake 4 I bought because it wouldn't install. The problem is that the second copy is doing the exact same thing. When I put in the first disc everything goes smooth. When it calls for the second disk I put it in and the installation starts going really slow. After about 20 minutes it gives me the error message "Error 1305: Error reading from file X:setupDataQ4basepak003.pk4" and asks me if I want to retry or cancel. I've retried before and the same thing happens. When I hit cancel it gives me another message "Error: -1603 Fatal Error During Installation".

This is not the first place i've come to for help on this. I've also posted on Gamespot and PlanetQuake forums looking for help. After reading some other threads on these forums I can see that some others are also having this problem. I've tried some different things to see if the problem is my system. I tried on both of my disk drives. Same thing happens on both drives. I tried installing on both of my harddrives. Same thing happens.I also returned the original copy I got, as mentioned before, and am getting the same exact problem, so I know it's not the disks. Please help. I really want to play this game.

That didn't help and wasn't even designed for Windows XP users. That probably doesn't mean much but still...

I really want to play this game but hate spending time trying to fix problems. I just want to play. This is frustrating. I don't want to return it either and don't think Gamestop will give me my money back. I know this problem is not specific to me because I've discussed it with other users. One thing that came to mind was downloading the game and using my valid CD key. Is that legal? The problem is i've never done that before and don't really know how it works. Do i need to burn it to a disk to do that?
