Hi guys!

All of a sudden when i compile my map the character is running in slow motion and only runs faster when i go to the edges of my map, any ideas why this has suddenly started happening and what causes it,

What frame rate are you getting? You tend to move much slower with a smaller frame rate.

I don't know, I don't know where to go or how to check the frame rate, i've never had to do it before, (sorry) still a bit of a dumb as i'm afraid [biggrin]

type in your console
/cg_drawfps 1

See if there is a connection between your framerate and the speed you're moving at.

Hi mate!

These are the fps i get at different places around my map.....

(20-36, 3) 20 fps
(7-9, 7) 8 fps
(20-40, 4) 32 fps

Your gonna tell me i got serious probs aren't you? [rolleyes]

30 fps is what the game is built for (damn consoles) but lower or inconsistent fps will slow/speed up, judder, screen tear. Cap your fps at your monitors refresh rate. ( I think it's com_maxfps "0" 0=uncapped)


Portal your map, indoor portalling in a must and then outdoor portal where needed. If you already have portals and the fps is dropping you might want to re-design them or track down any errors.

Stuttering can also be caused by looping errors in scripts so watch for pretty much any errors when loading the map with:

/developer 2
/devmap yourmapname

Hi mate!

Sorry to be a pain but can you tell me how to Cap my fps at my monitors refresh rate, I think also part of the problem for some reason was the 'destructables' i put in, i took out the 3 trucks and mercedes and it got considerably faster, (strange) All my buildings portals are fine (i think) I can't tell if they are working or not, I don't get any errors in my compile log.

as for portalling outdoors, i have been trying to do that for about 10 days without success, i have literally destroyed my map trying to portal outdoors, luckily i made a backup before i started, i have tried my best to portal outdoors and just can't do it, i'm that frustrated its unbelievable, i'm going to put a post up soon to ask if someone is willing to portal the outdoors for me.

What graphics card are you running? What frame rate do you get while playing stock maps? You must have some serious amounts of clutter in your map to run your fps down to 8, while playing alone on the map. The source of you guy running in slow motion is definitely because of your frame rate. Can you take a screenshot of your map just so we can get an idea of what might be causing this slowdown?
