nice section in modsonline by the way but anyways been wondering something, i have a realy crappy computer and anways id say about 6 months ago my computer cant read disks no more and was wondering what could be causeing that problem if anyone knows please reply.

HDD may be on the way out. Try checking the disk for errors by going to 'start' - 'run' - type 'chkdsk /f''

You will probably have to restart because the disk will be in use, if so restart your machine.

Actually think i may have misunderstood your post, do you mean disks as in CD/DVD?

I had the same problem, it also started about six months ago. Go to 'My Computer' and check that your dvd shows as a DVD-RW. On my computer this had changed (i cant remember what it changed to) I swapped the drive for a liteon drive from a computer that i dont use and the problem was solved. It wasn't a bad drive., i think the problem started with a windows update. Hope this helps.

yeah disks as in cd/dvd. and johnno even when i put the cd in my disk tray what ever u wana call it it dosnt even show that a CD is in my computer in "my computer" maybe i need a new dvd/cd thing? dunno what to call it im not good with computer parts lol.

Sounds like a common problem, unfortunately to common. I have had an issue like this in the past and one of these methods did fix the issue. Give it a shot and see if it helps out or not.
