So I am making a pistols only mod for a server I am a regular at for our pistols only night and people don't pay attention to chat so they don't participate. I cannot find one already done up that works properly. This is on a 1.0 server.

So I am looking at these rifles only mods. They all seem to have a .iwd file with them. Is rifles only not a server side only mod? So if I were to make this pistols only mod, would I have to actually create a .iwd file for clients to download for it to work? I'd prefer a server side if at all possible. I am currently ripping apart a rifles only mod and converting it to pistols only. But this is a mod that the client has to download.

For rifles only you would need menus to choose from. That makes it clientside.

For pistols only, you dont have to choose anything, so no menus means it could just be server-side only - no client download necessary.

Hmm, another potential problem is not enough ammo for pistols. Personally, I am pretty good with the pistols when I need to use them. Any idea on how to increase the ammo?

Search for the weapon\mp folder (if I remember right it was in iw_13.iwd). Copy all the pistol files to your mod and change the following line in all the weapon files:

Code:
maxAmmo\64\startAmmo\32

Soon as you edit a file that the client needs, it becomes client-side. Weapons files are needed by the client so bang goes the server-side only idea.
