So with the probable mod tools release for Black Ops I started to think about a map I could make. I think the current map pool of Black Ops misses maps with long clear sight lines. This is the reason I came up with my current design. It is a mirrored design at the moment, but keep in mind this is just the general map structure and pathways. So the end result will be more distinct and diverse so you can distinguish between the two sides of the map.

The map has an underground passageway that can be used to cross the open ground above more easily. The red lines are the map borders I had in mind, the orange blocks multiple floor buildings, the brown blocks single floor buildings.

The setting of the map is still undecided, I was thinking of a Russian city but it could also be a Vietnam or Cuban style. It depends on the assets and textures available.

Can you explain your image please. I like the idea of breaking up the LOS but i dont understand you image.

I take it the orange boxes will be structures, so buildings etc.. Is the green areas plant beds (like you see in a park)?

yes, the blocks are buildings, orange being multiple floor buildings, brown single floor buildings. The green rounded blocks are parks with trees. I was thinking of some light cover in the sense of bushes and trees but which can still be shot trough. The U shaped blocks with stripes are connections to the underground part of the map.

Thanks for explaining.

Changed my name a while back now, good few months, there was a post on why but it's basically so i can keep the my name consistant through games and forums. I have always been none as mystic in game so makes sense and prevents confusion :)

seems small and u will probably be able to see everyone else spawn. not to mention u would easily keep someone underground with the right amount of ppl and claymores or stuff of that nature.

@Mystic: I see! Must have missed that post :) Wasn't very active the last months on modsonline.

@voidsource: I know it might seem small now, but those blocks are going to be large apartment buildings. The top down distance is going to be similar to mp_array. As for the spawns: I'm going to put no spawns in the middle area, as there I want the fighting to happen, all spawns are going to be in the north west and south east area of the map. Anyhow I have to playtest the map to see if a different spawn layout is needed. I will keep your concerns in mind!

also why dont u also allow players to g into some buildings as an alternative pathway towards another end or something.

Yes I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that all buildings within the red map border line are accessible. To what degree I don't know yet but at least two apartments have a 3rd floor that you can reach.

for some reason i want to see a bridge from one building to the other. You can use this pic i got off of an ....adult video.... i saw it and it seemed like a good idea to make it in radiant.



just seems like a good enviorment of some sort.
