Hey
here i am with yet another strange feature request:
Add a user-account based option to disable the landingpage you get when clicking an external link. I am fairly sure i can handle those external links, and the landing page is just damn annoying.

Although i am sure some users appreciate it, i would like some setting in the user-settings to disable it. You can give me a "agree to that modsonline is not responsible for any damage" then, but not every frigging time i click an external link.

Thanks.

I'll add my vote to this request. It is very annoying. It even does it sometimes if the link is a modsonline link.

Please remove this "idiot" notice. I think we are all big enough and ugly enough here to know if we want to click an external link or not. I can see no purpose in this "feature" other than to annoy.

It's only one extra click and at least the less aware users amongst us are a little more protected.

Not everyone knows what links to visit and what not too even if you think it obvious. For example i must get 10 emails a day pointing me to a website, which as me to 'confirm' i own my account (for various websites, mainly mmo's) by sending all my details including full address, username and password.

Sound obvious but people obviously do it, that why so many account get compromised. It's possible for a bot to post here, and before we get a chance to delete the post someone could have clicked it, which in turn looks bad for the site.

Which is exactly why i ask for a disable by cookie/account setting instead of general disable of this "feature/bug"

I agree that the landing page system needs to be updated. Admins are supposed to be able to allow and disallow certain urls. This would essentially turn off the landing page for selected domains and pages.

However, I cannot remove it completely. We have run into some serious issues a couple years ago where people were getting viruses and other bad things. This landing page is to protect you and to protect us (legally).

I will look into the landing page system again soon and update it accordingly.

I'm sorry that it's a nuisance...but it's necessary.
