The COD4 Wiki seems to be defaced..

Unfortunately fixing this is going to be a mammoth task. We're willing to do it, providing you guys still want and use the wiki. I've set up a poll to see what you guys think, you can also comment here.

They have really gone to town, almost every page has been replaced, even the about and disclaimer

That's a whole lot of work to fix.

Maybe you guys should disable the link for now until a decision is made. Just a suggestion. No point in allowing anyone to even interact with that trashing.

I know it's wiki but isn't there some kind of monitoring system?

I don't know how many hits you've been getting on the wiki lately and I think that should play a part in whether to revive it or not. And merely asking us is not the point of the wiki as it can be a big help to "noobs" (like I used to be about a year ago) and who therefore aren't part of this forum yet. Even though it's an older Call of Duty game I think it's still current for a lot of people because it's the last CoD Infinity Ward made without all the "restrictions" .
I think losing the information in the wiki would be a shame but if it's a b*tch to rebuild it, I can understand you're having second thoughts. Maybe you should also ask around if anyone leeched a local copy of the wiki for personal use.. That would take away a lot of work..

wiki should require a user account and have a good captcha in the registration form...

i reverted all CoD pages i found and blanked some spam posts... but there seem to be hundreds :(

Please don't anyone else waste any time on reverting pages and comments on the current wiki. I expect to be able to find an old database backup file that I can restore everything. I just need time to find it and install it. I should know more by Friday.

As for future protection, I did attempt at one point to update the wiki programming with a newer version, but that caused many more headaches then was worth while. Instead I would like to look into what is available for the wiki as it is and place more protection on it as Sevenz has suggested.
