Hi I know this sounds crazy and ive had a lot of people try and help me with this 1st I cant make water I knnow how to do it first you make the desired water cube or shape then nodraw_ water then shade it right..well I have no nodraw_water in my radiant I've tryed a fresh install ive downloaded it from different places and still no luck is thair some way i could just right the code in, and if so could some one tell me where to put it and what to write
2nd after i compile the map from Q3 it compiles fine I can play it on quake3 as a /sv_pure 0 /devmap (mymap) but when I take it and convert it with zip to a pk3 I cant play it is thair any way to play it multiplayer with out it beeing a .pk3? if anyone would like too see my map to help i would be happy to send a copy to you thank you..

1. Read through this tutorial: 6. Liquids

2. You probably haven't created the right folder hierarchy. You need to put the *.bsp file into the "maps" folder. And furthermore you need an *.arena file in the scripts folder of the pk3. Then you can select it from the multiplayer or skirmish mode. For the arena file: Go into the scripts folder of pak0.pk3 and go through one of them.

how do I open the pak0.pk3 file I used word pad and I get some sort of code is thair a program to use?

sweet thank you that did work now if i could only get a levelshot and figure out how to make water my water is thair but you cant swim in it and for some reason it hurts ..also I cant seem to make a .pk3 that works I put the .bsp and the .map in a folder then the levelshot if i had one in a folder then the script in a folder and use rar to make it a zip then change the name to pk3 but it doesnt play whe i put it in quake3 any help on this?

I don't remember being able to swim in Quake water. I don't think you can.

the pk3 must have the correct paths (folders). Isn't there a tutorial on this?

- use winzip
- recreate all the necessary folder that you are using in a temporary area. This way you can place only your new files in those folders without the game's files in there too.
- copy your files over. Note that you will have folders like main, maps, etc
- in your temporary game folder that you created, select everything and right click. You will have an option to add to zip.

Using this method should put all the files in folder represented in the winzip column titled Path

Start the map in /devmap mode, type in noclip, search for a nice place for a screenshot. Now type into the console: /cg_draw2d 0 and /cg_drawgun 0. Now you shouldn't have anything anymore on the monitor. Then type in: /screenshotjpeg or bind it to a key with /bind keyhere screenshotjpeg. Now it takes a screenshot everytime you press that key. It will save it in baseq3/screenshots. Before you take the next screenshot, be sure that the text in the upper left corner has been gone.

Be sure that you didn't just place the texture on the top surface. Just use it for the whole brush and you should be able to swim; but don't forget to use the nodraw texture for connected water brushes. Read my tutorial.

You took a water texture which has a certain command in the shader which hurts the player. Just use another one. I prefer clear_calm1 or clear_ripple.

Hi im stuck agin I have the map finished, but i cant make it a .pk3 still or somthing I dont have to type /sv_pure 0 /dvmap to play ive used a pak3man,pakscape,winzip,rar, and is till can't make a playable pk3 I now have a new prblem too my pk3,s look like wordpad files quake still plays i seem to have no probs but maby its affecting it?

Would be great if you could give us a detailed description what you did exactly.

I'm doing it like this: Create a new folder with the name of the map. In this folder I create all the custom folders I need (env, maps, textures, scripts, sounds). Then I fill these folders with content, select them and zip them with winrar. Then I rename it from *.zip into *.pk3 and it works.
