Gday guys[wave].. just thought I would make a preview page for everyone to have a looksee at the progress of my map and to be able to make comments and / or suggestions...

I am calling it Wütende Krähen ... it is a fictional town on the outskirts of France or Italy, havent decided, which has been taken over by the Germans.. It is only at about 13% complete still a hell of a lot to do; I'm hoping to include All game types..

Wütende Krähen will be quite big.. it will include a commercial area, residental area, industrial area, docking area, train station / tracks.. This map will hopefully be set up for all types of users, being, snipers, close quarters, vechile lovers etc..

Please remember that these pics are early stages so not everything is textured etc.. plus thinking about closing the buildings in bit more












Now I hope these pics are big enough for you to see them properly.. I am still fiddling around with the worldspawn and fog etc.. but any comments and suggestions would be great..

Wow, I love your buildings, very detailed inside as well as outside. How many times do you see nice work on the outside of a building and then find it plain and empty inside?

Well done mate, it will make a great map, layout looks good for portals too! [thumbs_up]

Thanx for the comments.. makes me feel all funny inside [lol].. well as alot of people know, this is my first map ever, and as I like to say, unless you count building a house for The Sims[crazy]..

I did have a map layed out on paper even draw out layouts of some buildings, but I decided that it was too big of a map to do as a beginner, so decided to size it down etc.. but have to say I think it is gonna be bigger[lol].. I have fair idea layed out in my head.. but seeing I am still classed as a newbie to mapping, it just working ways to do things etc..

Some people have seen how detail I can be.. so yeah it takes a while for me to do the map because am still learning as I go, since becoming a moderator helping others from modsonline with their maps.. now I know why you don't see many moderators releasing map after map[lol].. plus life and gaming takes time away from my map.. but hopefully won't take me too long..

There will most likely be a few versions released to please everyone.. sunny day, stormy plus night.. hopefully.. A lot of fx too..

Once again thanx for the nice comments, but as I said any comments bad or good, plus any suggestions are welcome..

I think it would look much nicer if you done some alpha blending on the grass...

Oh.. forgot to say.. the terrain is just a brush.. I havent started on the terrain.. am gonna build first then do terrain.. but good call.. [lol].. Plus no portalling done yet..

Make sure u get some good sidewalks on the streets.

a 2 lane road... With some parked cars.. Civilian cars..

Brick rubbel - where tanks can move over.. (patch mech with a few brick laying on road-hight..And wood sticking out..Planks)
Make a special road.. With a few ruins - Where the road are filled with rubble - where russians - Or other can make some nasty street fights...And totally clean roads..

And maybe... A electric train like in the krakov map...

Yea! your map reminds me of the krakov map... Ther are room for electric trains - If you keep the present distant between houses...as it are on the screenshots... There could be tracks on the road - in the middle... Or sides..
Wich could lead to Electric train-stops... With a poster pillar (cylinder)..With posters..
Then the electric wires wich the trains a driven by..

And if it gets to big - Then make a drawing on paper..From top view...
Make just 2 HQ areas... Wich maybe could be used as bunkers... And make sure the roads dont get to long - For the sake of poly-count..And portals..
Would look graet with german flags...The forbidden ones on the facade of the German HQ..

My advise is - Don't make it Too big... Make a drawing from top view... So you know somehow what is gonna be both tactical and where to put covers... Maybe a garage for the panzers..

Do the drawings -

The Grey building you made... That has a turn on the corner.. You could make it like that - in a whole section - But make only a few of them working inside - Meaning - Blocked frontdoors.. Bloked doors..
That grey building could be used...As a row.. Sometimes these grey building are filling up a whole side... - uhhm... For it looks to me as a big city....
Keep the style of the grey building (boring) With corner..Bended.. City buildings can be boring to look at.. And i really like that grey one with the bended corner..

LOL*

How is that for a comment?

PS - keep the small building on a street - For small buildings..
Like seperated... And big ones in the big area.. don't delete.. IT looks great..

krakov..hmm didn't even think of that.. well I hadn't decided on where abouts it was based, was thinking Italy or France where the Germans have over taken.. well update for location.. Wütende Krähen is now based in Russia, in a town which has a big population of Italians, French and Russian.. which has been taken over by the Germans.. Now that gets me out of people saying if it based in Russia then why are there french, Italian, Russian and German signs, posters etc[lol]..

There will be a few main roads which consists of 2 lanes, which will also have cars parked and crashes etc..

Of course there will be rubble in places to make it feel realistic.. a part of town will be bombed out.. part of shopping centre and behind and near it etc..

Electric trains going through the city.. hmmm.. nice idea, as I said didnt even think of Krakov.. as for the german flags and, as you have put it, forbidden ones thats the plan I would post a pic of a house with flag flying but imageshack isnt letting me do anything at the moment..

What did you mean by this..
