Here is a brief explanation that Woo and I posted up about the site. All I have to say is this will be a huge loss to the Mapping/modding community
Quote: I was talking with nerd last night, and found out a bit more on why CustomCoD is now down.
He was hacked : he was fine with it, it happens, He figured he'd just undo what was done on the homepage, simple defacement. Life moves on.
His personal passwords were posted on the internet : This was an extremely malicious thing, very personal. **edited**
This was totally disgusting, very "not cool". As a result of the personal attack, he doesn't want to be involved at the site level, nor does he want to be in a position where his family/livelihood are at risk because someone decides after they deface his frontpage it's cool to post a list that could financially break his family or defile all things personal to him/his family.
Personally, I do NOT blame him. I am appalled by the behaviour of at least 2 members of a specific community (CM) who then flocked to the hackers website to congratulate him on an awesome job of making this very personal. I do not condone the actions of sangwe11, meeshupeeshu and xnickx (nice comment on youtube tool!) for supporting such a personal attack.
I have copies of the wiki & scripting reference which I will put up as soon as I can. I also have the downloads (all the files I could find, approx ), the descriptions are lost. Once a suitable system/host can be found, they will be made available.
All other valuable information is lost now.
Just wanted to pass this information onto everyone.

Sites get hacked/defaced all the time, every minute! I work for an ISP, i see enough of it everyday. Usually the defacers have absolutely no personal agenda on the site they defaced, its pure challenge for them to do that and never you will see files been stolen or erased. Now in the case of CustomCOD it seems its a different story ... With the password exposed you can see its a lot more personal.
Who done it? We'll probably never know. Probably some kids he banned recently or had a running with.
Its a blow for the Zombie mappers alright, although there are and already were plenty of other sites to share and help others.
If anything is to be learned is to not use that gimpy SMF, it stinks when it comes to security. Why? Its not OpenSource |

WoO (Wizzard of Oz) from ZCT wrote it. He helped start up CustomCoD and shape CustomCoD into a helpful resource.
I really wish CCoD would go back up, or at the least, start fresh with CustomFPS that was planned to launch soon as mentioned in the last CCoD Newsletter. But I can understand how frantic and frustrating it must have been when all his private info was posted out on the open ranging from blog accounts, email/personal/private/family related accounts, CoD acccounts, online shopping accounts, server hosting/managing accounts, etc... It was a really long list that screwed over any online identity he had and potentially put his real life identity on thin ice.
Like WoO, I too am saddened to see users and other CoD communities taking the oppurtunity to publically laugh at the downfall of CCoD. Nerd ticked me off at times but I wouldn't wish anything like what happened yesterady on him (or other CoD site admins) nor will I deny him having a big heart for Call of Duty, and more importantly - the community. With the launch of WaW he provided a place to host projects, get help, discuss CoD, make friends, etc... and never once asking for anything in return.
It is pretty shitty when CoD users/communities have to hack each other and/or take pleasure at the expense of another community going down. I think that was what Jeannot was getting at with what he wrote, and I concur.
