No one here got the tools? Surely there are mappers or people who regularly use Radiant for their maps / mods. [confused]

Foyleman? Snyder? Welshy? Mystic? DeekCiti? SPi? antonio.horvatovic0? 4codrazor?

Damn, not even SPi who admirably still making content for CoD4 nearly 10 years later. I heard no one from UGX got the tools either, even though they have been keeping the Zombie WaW community alive too all these years.

Also I haven't seen any of the testers actually test out creating FX or animation packages, which is built into Radiant now and some of the testers zoomed by in their videos.

Not that the people they chose aren't good candidates to test the tools, but such a limited pool size, mostly all from one community site, and all primarily MP mappers is disheartening, it's not like digital distribution of tools is a limited tangible commodity that has costs.

If they're worried about filtering through feedback from so many people, they haven't thought this stuff through and should take notes from Epic Games, Valve, Bethesda, and other studios who do mod support. If no one inside the studio is actively using other game tools for research and taking notes, there's a bigger problem.

I'll go back in my man cave and play with VR some more now. [wave]

The only person that I know got access was Zeroy. I haven't heard of anyone else.

I guess this brings up a question. Once the public release comes how many people are looking to start making content for BLOPS 3?

I love the idea of level design again, however, isnt modifying the game files or creating content without actual consent from the developers against the toc's? I just feel there is legal limitations to this?

@SparkyMcSparks

I never bothered working with anything after WAW, simply because who ever is running the show now only cares about the money and not about game longevity or the community. When the community is allowed to create content for the game, the game lasts longer, it's that simple. But, when a game lasts longer, they have to support that and spend money on it, even though it isn't their focus anymore. From what I see, they don't want that, and in my personal opinion, they haven't reached out to the community to keep anyone in the loop of what they want to do with future games for allowing custom content. Not that it's a requirement or anything but if you care enough about your community, then show it.

I understand that making promises that you can't keep is risky but even at least someone who can interact with the community first hand would help keeping everyone in the loop. Communication is always key in everything we do. Everything.

These people don't care. They want you to play the new game they make, not the old ones. If they allow custom content, then you'll be doing that, instead of playing the new game. The door revolves like this: Game created > Game bought by gamers > Money rolls in for new game > Game is exhausted > New game comes out > Circle complete. Rinse, repeat. When they don't get enough funds to support the next game, they release update packs, map packs and all that stuff. Mostly things they steal from the community with no props for the original dev.

I can see it from a mile away and I'm not going to step in that slop anymore. Don't get me wrong, our time was great, but the way games are going these days, the stuff we used to do is more like piracy now than having fun creating content for our favorite games. Maybe it will change some day, who knows. Until I see a Game Dev that actually cares about their community, then I might get back into it. For now, I'm just going to watch the same game roll out year after year and watch people get sucked into it. I'm sorry, I just can't anymore, lol.

Always amusing reading these conspiracy theories :) The people with access to the closed beta have already done some really interesting stuff with it...
